The last time we couldn't find room for a big bodied half back flanker he went to west coast and terrorised us for years. That player was Elliot Yeo.

Please for the love of all that is holy if we can don't repeat that mistake.

Can you have a backline of below? Or is it way to tall haha?

Ryan Pearce Chapman
Curtain Cox Clark

I have no idea where Curtin would play for us. He's not a forward or a winger which are the only two spots with real scope for improvement.

Maybe if Chappy is moving up the ground he could take his spot.
6”6 KPD that reads it like Weitering and delivers it like May out of defence. No chance Freo get him this trade period as the hand is full.

A lot of “ifs” but if Port and Pies stay middle table - We could feasibly get Warner for our top two picks (and maybe our 2025 second round pick thrown in as well), Baker for our mid teens pick (when we finish top 4) and Charlie Cameron for the Saints second rounder we have.
There will be a hell of a lot of “Flagmantle 2025” tattoos if so!!
(Ps, yes, I do border on the unrealistic side of optimism but it’s a nice place to live!🤣)

Whos selling Flagmantle merch?
Or did the afl lock that up?

So it's a late first for Baker, two best firsts for Warner, and a first and a second for Curtin?

What about Logan Mac?
Remember him?

Curtin doesn't make sense for us this year in terms of both positional need and draft capital. Crows would ask for a fortune with an extra 2 years left too. Let him see out his 3 year deal and crows can develop him, then bring him home. I see him starting as a HBF and turning into a Jordan Ridley type as he develops, maybe a long term Ryan replacement as the 3rd tall/intercepter

No room. Even after Fyfe retires he's behind Johnson and Erasmus and #chadlocked.

Unless he is just better than them I can't see that making sense.

Erasmus (and Brodie) might have their cards marked, and I think it is unlikely we can get Warner (despite all the talk).

We have JOM and Fyfe in the preferred 22 while Johnson is also in the side. So that's two old players we need to replace in the midfield mix. I don't think Curtin would be any slower than JOM, so his extra height is a bonus athletically. And even if we did get the Chad, there's still room.

Then there is the backline. Ryan, Pearce and Aish won't play forever. Hughes is not in our best 22, but that's the sort of player he could replace if Chapman was injured or moved up the ground. We can find room for a young utility/flanker type who could also play KPD if necessary.

As said above, he is contracted until end of 2026, so let him see that out and we can bring a more developed player in ready to replace some of our 28+ year olds who might be cooked in 2-3 years time.

I think Brodie has had his card marked. I think Erasmus has a role, when Fyfe doesn't play.

We badly need Johnson to find a 2nd position, so we only need to play him 40% in the middle.

I don't agree re: Johnson.

I think his role is the Fyfe role, he just needs to bide his time and wait for it to open up.

IF MJ and Ras are patient and are happy to wait then we are really perfectly placed as they are genuinely like for like Fyfe / JOM replacements in 12-18 months.

Cross Logan McDonald off the list. He will announce a new deal very soon at Sydney.

Eggs in the Chad basket now.

I honestly think that is a positive for us. Logan while he projects to be a good player i don't see how he fits when we have Jye, JT, Jackson and Darcy all in the mix.

Please join me as I raise a glass for the quality crop of young blokes who have been traded in recently.

Jordy, Dogga, Sharp I'm looking at you.

What a change it has been from the Lyon era when it seemed like the only talents we could attract all had significant risks and sometimes hung under dark clouds.

If I wasn't a kicked dog, I'd swear that word was out in player land that something special is on the boil with these blokes in purple.

Well put, Clark, Jackson and Sharp are all exceptional players and people. All three are on an upward trajectory, and yet to hit their peak. Clark and Sharp are reaching new heights nearly every game. Jacko a little more hit and miss but has enormous upside.

The club has raised the bar with it's trading method. Not too many misses these days.

Where is this coming from? Because with Hayward just signing a new deal and no news (publicly) on McDonald yet, it is looking the opposite.

Hope you’re right though we do not need to be a part of that race
