Out of interest, how would you play it? How often is a key forward available, that would come to Perth?

I think if he kicks 30 goals or under, pick 10 to 15 is enough.

He really needs to kick 40 goals this year, to be worth anything inside the first 10 picks.

The talk of pick 5-8 plus another 1st round pick is overs, unless he has a massive year.

Personally, I like Zurhaar plus 3 first round picks, and target 2 forwards and one outside mid with class.

We should absolutely make a play for MacDonald.

But only in a way that would also allow us to net some quality small or medium forwards (via trade or draft).

It's not so much a question of whether we should join the race (yes... yes we should), but how far we're willing to run in it, given the stakes on offer.

I don't there's much more chance of Zurhaar playing for Freo next year as Oscar Allen tbh.

There is a certain element of trust that the people in charge know what players are worth. Jackson wasn't worth the price we paid based on his output to that point in time alone, but it turns out he was actually worth what we paid

Similarly, if Logan kicks 30 goals this year he is still worth two firsts based on potential rather than output, particularly if that's what people involved agree that he's worth

I have no trust. Hogan and Lobb proved me that.

Matera, Kersten proved me that again.

I still have doubts Jackson was worth what we paid for him.

There was an interesting stat, that when trading for top 5 picks (especially ones who don't meet expectations) you tend to over pay.

Some of you lot have been around a long time and should know better than losing your shit after one game. Let the man play a full season and see what he can produce. Same applies to Treacy. If anything, I would prefer Macca does kick 40+ goals this season and we pay overs for him because the alternative is drafting a key forward which is a gamble and could take years. I also hope we do our due diligence and ask if JUH and King if they would consider the move.

"Price" as it is, is an almost entirely intangible concept. It gets revised and rewritten post hoc according to whatever "what if" that seems to fit.

It's what you make of what you do have that really counts.

I've heard a few times we should target a quality small forward, are there any that realistically available? its to early to read into this years draft crop but all the top picks seem to be midfielders at this stage

Zurhaar medium tall.

Stengle small forward.

Does not look to be a great draft for small forwards but blbery early

Chad Warner is the one we need,a mid with pace and he has a bit of hardness

He's not that great simple The McDonald's of the world are not unique enough to spend the sort of Capital being bandied around on here , He is vanilla as they come in my opinion.

He kicked 32 Goals last year, and is on an upward trajectory. If he wants to come, we have the leverage. I’d hope the club would do similar to what’s crows did with Dawson. I think it’s worth taking the risk, because at the moment our forward line is still letting us down.

At least Jackson had played some outstanding games for his former club including in a Grand final.
Am I missing something ?I just don't get the love, he is rated as average or below average on all stats over his career.

Lobb was a break even, we didn’t give up much for him. If you can’t see what Jackson is becoming I can’t help you. Hogan was a shocker, we all know that.

We split a top 6 pick in the super draft to get him.

**** me, if that is a break even, swapping Weller for Brayshaw was just a break even as well.

I never rated Lobb at all, at best he is B+ player. You just dont give up top 10 picks for average players, it just stupid.

Agree with Jackson, but we gave up a lot to get him.

He needs to be a very good player to make up for it. I am not sure who wins the trade, it looks 50/50 to me.

Going so early in the year on Logan makes no sense. Especially after a low scoring game in slippery conditions. There wasn't a foward on the ground who had a strong game.

How is the trade panning out for Melbourne atm? Pretty sure they would rather Jackson than whoever they got in the draft

Windsor and Jefferson from memory

No we didn’t. We used the pick 6 from Neale to draft hogan. What were you watching? The other pick we used on lobb.
