Only had a couple of smalls too, as Ross likes taller players.
Smalls were Ballas and Sonny, and Sonny was easily our most dangerous forward that day (Not a high ceiling)
This squad is not there yet, but if they keep the A grade talent and draft wisely 3 years could be a chance.
Don't think Longmuir will be coach
It could happen as early as next year if we have a decent injury run. A lot of players will enter or advance through the 70-120 games bracket next year if they play most of this year. That's where you need the majority of your list to at least be.

Warner would have to be end of 2025. Swans aren't letting him go in contract given they've just topped up.
Would have said the same about the players we let go, 1 year contract lengths are easy enough to break nowadays I think

1 year contracts are being able to extract fairer value than an uncontracted player. I reckon more players request trades with a year to go as they know their current club will probably a ask for a higher value and be more likely to let them go.

Both Chad and Corey are contracted until end of 2025. Gulden and McDonald out of contract end of 2024.

If Sydney are after JUH as I am lead to believe on a deal worth around $1.5 million a season then the Dogs are going to want more than the pick #11 and pick #19 they currently hold.

Personally, I see Gulden as everything I want Aiden O'Driscoll to be - but if he is a genuine chance we would be absolutely robbing Sydney for him.

All three firsts to Sydney for McDonald and Gulden, Treacy and future first to Richmond for Baker their (Freo) 2nd and their 2025 2nd.

I still don’t think it can just be the draft tbh.

Only because we probably need a good actual window of 3-4 years to jag one. If that happens in 3-4 years we’re in danger of losing players like Darcy, Cox and Brayshaw to retirement. It’s okay to say Geelong had x amount of 30+ year olds but I’ve seen too many players just be sh** or injury prone post 30 to assume our players will be playing good footy at 32/33.

Do we actually need Warner.

Obviously I’d take him at the right price - I’m quite bullish on our young midfield depth though

All these talks of bringing in marquee players but our history shows we perform better when we cultivate our own talent and use trades to top up the team.

Trading a future first to Richmond for Baker is my idea of hell

Wouldn’t trade Treacy even if McDonald comes in unless he requested it.

I can see a situation where we try Amiss, Jackson, Treacy and McDonald in the same forward line. Will it work? - Absolutely not but I think we’d give it a go.

I agree with you because I think Jackson will end up a midfielder in time, looking like a bigger Fyfe, and we will be looking for a tall forward again.

I also hope that Josh Treacy explodes this season with 40 to 50 goals and dominant marking performances.

It's in everyone's interest that it happens, if he were to request a trade to double his income and secure his playing career for five years I'd wish him well - but we will gut the club that comes for him.

Yeah and our F1 could be pick 6

You're right, we should just get them to buy Josh Treacy for Baker and their pick #6 after feeding him the ball all year so he kicks 40-50 goals.

Seriously.

Yeah or we just keep our future first and Treacy and let West Coast throw away picks for Baker 🤷‍♂️

If Treacy is on track for 40-50 goals mid season we probably withdraw ourselves from the McDonald race tbh. I don’t think he has that in him though tbh - it’s pretty much double what he’s done in the past.

We can do that, I think a guy who averaged top five B&F finishes during Richmond's three flag window would improve our side. If I were on WC's list management team I'd be looking to add him for a second round pick (leveraging that 18th place finish).

I think he just needs to mark half the balls he currently gets his hands to but drops and he will get close enough. That's including a fair bit of team confidence in kicking to him, resulting in more opportunities to mark as the side looks for him in the contest.

It's all on his shoulders, a lot of our success this season will be on how he performs as a contested marking tall. I am expecting Fyfe to increase the ball movement out of the stoppages/bounce forward enough that we will just need the players ahead of the ball able to react and win some of those extra contests to look really, really dangerous.

If he brings the ball to ground, our smalls will look like stars, if he marks it himself and takes four or five shots at goal a game he will look the star.

He’s the type of elite midfielder we don’t have

Umm Baker did not finish in the top 5 in Richmond’s B&F for 2017,18,19 or 20.
