That is insanity from Adelaide. I don't care how much the salary cap is going up. I respect Daniels has his sources, but I find it really hard to believe.
Crows have been looking for a big trade for couple years now they offered Petty 800K last year & were willing to give at 2 first round picks, Yeo would be a great fit

I know we are dreaming if we could land Warner but another WA player no one has spoken about and is tearing it up as a midfielder is Nic Martin. He'd be a great pick up.
Had committed long term at the bombers I believe.
I do think we should be looking beyond WA only players though. Brisbane found a way to tempt Neale out of Perth to Qld. We should be looking at similar with any decent players in positions of need that may be mildly disgruntled at their current clubs

I'm pretty sure they moved him to the backline and that's why he's tearing it up.

Good. I hate him.

I do, however, love the Chad:

Why tho.
He’s a bit undersized. Reminds me of Stephens who they also got rid of tbh

Because hes an elite kick and we lack that a lot in this team besides young and Treacy we don’t have good consistent penetrating kicks

Splitting the pick isn't as grotesque if it ends up being 6 instead of 2.
I think there's a decent chance they split the pick, I just can't see the rhyme or reason for using the picks they get from that to do anything other than get the best young guns available.

It's a curious thing, as I always wonder whether a player would hit those peaks regardless of whether environment and chance (injuries & opportunity) have significantly impacted. How fragile is player development at the level? How many top 10 picks have landed at the one struggler and never really fully expressed their talent as much as expected? And it's not always just better "culture" (which is a bit of a furphy), but also a possible varietal mix between individual and environment.

That was a massive issue at FFC pre-RTB. So many players landed at Freo and looked like they'd be future stars then their career fizzled out. Polak, Medhurst, Ryan Murphy, Rhys Palmer, Dion Woods, Adam Campbell, etc, etc, etc.

While it would suck to not get baker, it would be hilarious to see west coast overrate their list to the point that they bring him in

I can't see their new management making that mistake

(Unless they somehow grab him for like pick 25+, which would be wild)

Then Neale wanted to come back to Perth but we weren't willing to part with the picks that ended up being Amiss and Erasmus.

Can you imagine us giving up a couple of early picks for someone that doesn't really want to be here then trading them again for less? Trent Croad/Chris Tarrant situation again.

The more wins West Coast have between now and the end of the season is likely to see Baker as an Eagle in 2025 IMO.
Looking at their draw over the next month it’s likely they chalk up at least another couple wins

Could possibly end up with 8 wins for the year

Yea the issue now is they can’t leverage the PSD angle.
As Richmond likely be bottom 2 themselves so if they want baker they’re going to have to stump up

Which means splitting their 1st rounder, which would then see their first on draft night ending up somewhere in the mid to late teens at best.

🙏 🤞

Medhurst was a star, his career in no way fizzled out. The rest were all spuds* other than Woods, he was a genuine 'development' failure if you want to put it that way.

*Pre knee Rhys might have succeeded with right coaching. Post knee he was trading off his prior achievements. In fact that he lasted a further 6 seasons in the system after leaving Freo is a bit of an indictment.

As I said, there wasn't much that stood out that much about Warner, and you certainly would have picked Liam Henry over Warner every day of the week back then (and then some) based on output. His profile might have well been the same as Greg Clark's (from Subiaco) in his draft year.

Fyfe was much more prominent than Warner - he had a nine goal colts final, he had been influential in the U18s without being dominant and everyone could see he moved well, could mark and kick goals. His profile was more like pick 16-30, rather than Third to Fourth round.

This years WA draft equivalent is possibly Luke Urquhart - just a big but raw 90cm (East Freo) player with maybe above average athleticism that might see him as a midfielder one day at AFL level. Of course he could just as equally be a bust as well, or not even get drafted.
Way too short at 90 cm :)
