Jeez it is going to be hard to pick the right Mid-Pricers this year.
Going to have to do a deep dive on pre-season activity during Feb.

At the moment I only have placeholders in Fyfe, Kiddy Coleman, Tsatas and Harrison Jones (Nate Caddy on bench)

Have also gone 11 top guns or keepers and all possible top 10 draft pics.

So really it is more Guns n Rookies type team to generate cash through more rookies.

Trying to keep $200k plus ITB for some quick moves post round 1&2 to nab some bolters. Being Agile
(Damn I hate w***ers who use terms like that) may be where the extra 4 trades go early, already prepared to split a non-performing Premo into two guys who go off early.

Going to be some interesting and different strategies this year!

Question. Do we lose our right to compete in the ‘MidPriced Madness’ league if we aren’t 100% committed to the cause???? At least 6-8 true mid pricers minimum!

Your far better off starting more midpricers and then correcting into a premium and a well performing rookie then splitting a premium into two midpricers and the elevated risk that comes from it

Way too early to be locking team into a box, by team structures and strangling ideas of where and how to spend the cash.

Teams that want to have too many, say 11 $150k-$210k rookies, like mine at the moment, as well as Top guy or 2 in each line may have serious problems affording many
mid-pricers.

Add to that the lack of tempting or tasty options in fwd line.

Seems more likely for players with def status to be moved to midfield dpp roles and vice-versa than fwd only players getting mid minutes.

So the money goes early on high priced Rookies, set and forget Rucks, Big Cashola down back (going deep down to D5) and minimal spend in comparison up Fwd.
Add to that trying to get 4-5 keepers in the midfield.

Not many places or cash left over for many Mid pricers.

Find me 6-7 $102k playing rookies and this story may change.

Going 2 mid pricers into a Premo and a rookie is last years story and had to do that on 6 MPP’s, so 3 times and 6 trades down the toilet which is why I ran out of trades by Round 17 chasing rank climb to then fall off a cliff falling 21k spots by the end of injurygeddon. Thats how much I sCrapped my starting MPP picks.
The list was so long it hurts to look back and remember.

I've changed.
One mid pricer on each line.
Zillions.
Guthrie.
Fyfe.

Before forward line had MPM ...

Who knows what the R1 team will look like.
Same as me so far.

I thought George Hewett was going to be a solid mid-priced option given a few sub games last season dragged his average down, but at $440k he's a bit much.

Could be some good cheap fwds in the preseason ...wait and see ...

Not many Carlton players represent value this year and Walsh is the only one i am starting with who i think is great value and a must start.

Besides Williams who will be in nearly every team at 216k.

Completely agree with this. Otherwise, you are spending two trades to split the rookie and keeper, and likely multiple trades trading out the midpricers you trade in (unless you are getting the midpricers in as genuine keepers). Think this is a bigger waste of trades than starting with the skeptical players and moving into genuine cash cow and keeper premium.

This thread is called midprice madness so I assumed that poster was referring to a team filled with a good amount of midpricers.

Guns and rookies is also a valid stratergy.

I think the biggest thing is you have to treat your speculative midprice picks as “rookies” when you plan your trade cadence.

With 40 trades now it matters less but in turning these midpricers into a premo and a correction actually saves you a trade or two as it’s just a week 2 upgrade

I was trying to stay away from this site and SC until Feb, but the temptress got me :straining:

How are you all doing anyway?

As always, I'll start with the midpricers and work my way from there :D

I'm just starting my research

Be gentle - what is this about Fyfe?

Do we dare to dig this well again?
