With late picks, clubs often don't bother bidding because it doesn't really make the team "pay up" - They're going to be able to match any bid easily with irrelevant picks anyway, so they sometimes slide later than they really would if they weren't a F/S or Academy pick,Rubbish, every club had the opportunity to bid on him far earlier, of course he should be considered a late pick, just as Josh should be for us.
Dear was very much a late pick or rookie option regardless of the father son classificationWith late picks, clubs often don't bother bidding because it doesn't really make the team "pay up" - They're going to be able to match any bid easily with irrelevant picks anyway, so they sometimes slide later than they really would if they weren't a F/S or Academy pick,
It's too complicated a situation and not a real test of his draft stock, so to use him as an example of the type of player one could expect to get in the 50s is a little misleading.
He reads a bit like WHE.Hamish Davis Draft Profile
Claremont utility Hamish Davis found success at WAFL League level this year, combining high endurance base with high-IQ running patterns.central.rookieme.com
Once again this is absolute nonsense. It’s not about making other teams pay up, if a club makes a bid it’s because they rate the player. There have been plenty of other players who have had later picks bid on them, Callum Brown and Will Kelly for us are both notable post-30 picks that had bids made on them despite the fact we could use nothing picks by that point to get them. Carlton are unlikely to get away without at least one of the Camporeale twins being bid on this year, and probably will receive bids for both despite being rated as later picks. With late picks, clubs often don't bother bidding because it doesn't really make the team "pay up" - They're going to be able to match any bid easily with irrelevant picks anyway, so they sometimes slide later than they really would if they weren't a F/S or Academy pick,

Davis will be long gone before any of our picks imo.Not Someone I would take with our 1st Pick but as I have said IF we go KPP 1st Pick he might be someone we look at last 2 Picks
So basically a Tall Mid
Dylan Alexander picking for the pies chose Sims (crazy he was avail in this mock draft), Sam Toner and jhett haeata
Surely we wouldn't let Charlie West get to pick 75.. or Luke Kennedy at pick 72
Dear was a really late developer - might not have even been drafted last year if he wasn't a Father Son being tracked closely by Hawks. With late picks, clubs often don't bother bidding because it doesn't really make the team "pay up" - They're going to be able to match any bid easily with irrelevant picks anyway, so they sometimes slide later than they really would if they weren't a F/S or Academy pick,

I'm not sure how hawthorn did it but early in 2022 Dear was rated as a late first round pick. His talent was there for all to see. **** I hate hawthornDear was a really late developer - might not have even been drafted last year if he wasn't a Father Son being tracked closely by Hawks.
Uncles all good players.Dear was a really late developer - might not have even been drafted last year if he wasn't a Father Son being tracked closely by Hawks.
You know us, the forward will become a defender and the defender will become a forward
All our blokes played majority at the opposite end as 18 year olds - Howe, Moore, Murphy, Mihocek, McStay, Frampton - even Dean was a forward in his initial draft year.KP Forward to become a KP Defender possibility is quite high at pies, but it's much rarer to see the opposite.
Big Pebbles coming over from swans as a CHB in development (played gwd as a junior)
Mihocek more recently is really one out of the box there.
Howe I guess is another but whilst he can play tall is best suited as the 3rd in.
I'm sure we interviewed them early on when we had a 2nd round pick lol Even they were who we were keen on at the start of he year, but prob not in recent weeksNot the Kings or McKays: Meet the anti-twin big men who had 16 AFL clubs visit their country home
Matt and Jack Whitlock were born two minutes apart, are each almost 200 centimetres tall and will be first-round picks in the AFL draft – but they want to be known for more than being twins.www.smh.com.au
Would be very surprised if collingwood was one of the 16 clubs.
I think the AFL would allow us to trade a third out with one of our picks, with a second coming back - only real possibility I can see in terms of us trading out a pick.Quick question, are our future second and future 3rd picks untradeable now?
Can you post the article that suggested Dear was considered a first found pick in 2022. I'm guessing it doesn't exist even with his talent there for all to see.I'm not sure how hawthorn did it but early in 2022 Dear was rated as a late first round pick. Can almost guarantee we were one, just would have been before the trade period. Not the Kings or McKays: Meet the anti-twin big men who had 16 AFL clubs visit their country home

I read somewhere that we are one of the few clubs he hasn't met with, so seems unlikely.
He didn't play under 18s in 2022, but fans will talk up their FS picks no matter what. Surely one of the Monkhurst boys is coming through soon.I'm not sure how hawthorn did it but early in 2022 Dear was rated as a late first round pick. His talent was there for all to see. **** I hate hawthorn
Trust me, he was rated quite high in 22. Hawthorn done well hiding him.He didn't play under 18s in 2022, but fans will talk up their FS picks no matter what. Surely one of the Monkhurst boys is coming through soon.
