I wouldn't mind us trying to shift 60 and 66 for something higher.
I'd say if we can turn those two picks into a pick in the 50's.. but then we could have kept 58. So not sure whats gonna happen here.

Once the bid for Ashcroft comes in I wonder whether Brisbane's pick 43 could come into play for us as a pick swap?

A bid at 5 would see picks 27 and 34 wiped out while pick 42 would retain a points value of approximately 137 which I assume then gets valued and returned to them at roughly pick 61 (is that how it works?).

If Brisbane retained pick 43 and a bid comes for Marshall at let's say 20 then 43 and 49 would be wiped out and if my assumptions are correct the points value of 58 retained would push it back to approximately 64.

If Brisbane however traded 43 for 52 and 55 that would see the points value of 49, 52 and 55 be enough to match a bid at 20 and see them retain 58.

Interestingly that 58 would then obviously come before the two selections of 60 and 66 we traded it for.

Potentially we could sweeten the pot by swapping out 60 for 61 if my assumptions are correct and the bid for Ashcroft lands at 5.
I'd assume 27 would be traded for picks and a future 2nd

It's a different perspective this year. Key moments for me:
Ashcroft bid - I'm keen to see if we can shake out something as either a trade for 34 or some of the picks that the Lions get as a result of trading 27/34.
Kako bid - hoping it comes early and the Dons trade out their early picks - that will clear out a number of their later picks and increase the value of our picks. If 53 and 55 get burnt in the Kako bid then we'll have back to back selections with our 52 and 55
Marshall bid - If we can't shake out something from the Ashcroft bid, maybe we'll be able to do a trade when the Marshall bid comes in - our picks are likely to have increased in value at that point, whilst the Lions Pick43 will likely be worth less
End of R1 - that's when the draft starts for us, hoping we'll have a pick in the first 18 live picks.

It's an interesting one knowing what to barrack for with the Kako bid. If it comes too early they might have to match with their good picks and thus not use as many picks to match.

We were too with Nick.

Norf rated JHF 1 or near to it, they wanted the glory for their kid.

Pick 2 was KPP WB father son never going to bid on Nick.

Number 3 was our pick we gave GWS something tells me we were looked after here.

Nick was touted as a number 1 candidate by many clubs, but JHF also came with his backers. Pies all rated ND at 1.

Ashcroft has been largely the consensus number 1.

Tonight will definitely be more of a background watch with us not being involved until tomorrow
Unless we do a pick swap, or thats a tomorrow thing. We'll see what happens.

Tonight’s our Christmas Eve. Tomorrow is when the gifts start being unwrapped. Hoping not to find coal in our stockings.

Not cool. Let’s have a real conversation here. If I build a connection with a 15yo AFLW prospect that is absolutely dead wrong and I’m not walking past a standard I wouldn’t accept in my personal life. I wouldn’t want my son knowing people twice his age who aren’t teachers or relatives.

I kind of understand your sentiment here? But I reckon in this particular scenario it might be somewhat misplaced rage

I didn’t read anything into Jen’s post about “building a connection” or striking up a relationship with a kid

Seems like an unnecessarily extreme place to take it

Daicos MKII. We’ll all be sitting there at the end of 2025 wondering how the feck he wasn’t number 1.

Yep but that draft and how it fell was a bit different.

North believed JHF to be worthy of pick one and wanted the prestige for him as pick 1.

Western Bulldogs were never not matching the FS bid by GWS on KPP Darcy.

GWS maybe the ones who helped us the most as they bid on SD and then picked which was the pick we gave them.

Nick in pies circles and some other clubs believed (correctly) Nick was number 1.

Was a bit of perfect storm for us.

Imo Ashcroft circumstances are different but result will be the same.

God forbid a grown person develop innocent relationships with 15 year olds in order to properly track their club’s future prospects. It is completely innocent and completely normal, and it is a normal thing for many dedicated fans across the country.

Anyone who thinks otherwise should take a look in the mirror. This individual provides us with great insights into the club and the draft. 15 year old draft prospects should expect the attention that comes with it.

Trying to turn this into a creepy thing is disgusting.

You're a very unfunny clown.

They've updated this adding the bit about West at the bottom

Imagine if we get saints only FS haha

Shame we wont be able to pick more than 3, as I want multiple of these players lol
The Magpies won’t be seeing any action on night one, with their first pick set to come in at around 47 or 48 after earlier father-son and academy bids are matches. Collingwood has been strongly linked to 190cm West Australian forward-midfielder Hamish Davis, 197cm South Australian Charlie Nicholls and West Australian key defender Clancy Dennis, who could all be available later in the draft.

Collingwood has recently met with late-season bolter Hugh Boxshall, an athletic big-bodied midfielder. But whether he gets to the Pies’ pick is another thing altogether. The Magpies have also been fans of VFL young player of the year Sam Davidson throughout 2024 and he certainly fits coach Craig McRae’s ‘now’ mantra as a 190cm marking forward with elite running capacity, while Murray Bushrangers running defender Ollie Warburton has been linked.

The Pies may also look to put the pressure on the Saints. They are linked to a bid on St Kilda NGA key defender Adrian Cole and met with St Kilda father-son Elwood Peckett on Monday, who the Saints are yet to commit to.

The Magpies are one of the clubs who could target Woodville-West Torrens key forward Charlie West with a late selection.

I do watch the whole draft even if we aren't involved, as when you watch a lot of U18 footy, you tend to get invested in where these kids go.
I've known Sid since he was 15 via the Arlo connection. Back when he was a chance to come to us... a pipe dream at the time.
And then interesting where the whitlocks go, given we were interested in them mid year. Then obviously those that trained with us over summer, Mraz.

And we'll see if we get involved in a pick swap tonight, as we have something up our sleeve with that whole trade we did with the lions. As atm, it feels it benefited the lions and not sure how it helps us given we wont take 4 players.
