Very good work. Hopefully some will still be available when we use out 1st pick whether that be 45 - currently - or perhaps 44 or 43 or 42 or possibly 41.

Generally you don't make a trade up just to take the best player available, it is usually done to take a specific player. If North got pick 8, they very well may have taken matt whitlock with that pick.
They supposedly had Tauru in the mix at 2 - who was still there at 8. But after he went who knows and who knows when it went from their F1 outright to F1 with Rchmond F2 coming back. It's a guess.

That's not how that works.

There won't be any more cases of multiple picks being used to match a bid at this point, more than likely, so every bid that gets made will exhaust one pick but add one player to the order, so we won't move up any further.

If any players get matched with picks after ours, which is likely, we'll move down the order a few spots.
I read on another forum the following:
The discount for bid matching has also been reduced, with a 10% discount in the first round, and an 84-point discount thereafter. As such, bids after pick 50 do not require points and may be matched with the next pick.
"Just a correction, bids from #37 on can be matched with the next pick and don't require points."

So does that mean bids after pick 50 do not require points & so may be simply matched with the next pick? Or is the critical threshold number 37? I am curious to find out. If anyone can provide an authoritative answer it would be much appreciated.

So North trade a top 5 draft pick for 27 and 30…

Not sure how Richmond manage to keep getting first round picks for absolutely nothing…
I think they are giving away a pick in the 18-20 mark for Whitlock and a pick in the 6-10 range. Matching next year which push picks in rather than out as previous years with new system.
I dont think it will be as bad as it looks. If North finish last it will be a disaster though surely they cant be as bad as they have been last few years. They are loaded with talent.
I think Richmond will be happy with the deal regardless.

Couldn't give a rats about the draft when our first pick is in the 40's.
Arlo Draper? Cooper Murley?
Yes, let’s cherry pick the post 40 failures and ignore the successes. Good idea.

Bianco… Rantall… Ruscoe, Draper etc, etc

Yes it’s unlikely… but Mcreery was pick 44

Joe Richards pick 48

Harrison pick 52

Further back Tom Langdon pick 65

If one of these kids ends up playing 50-100 games then it will be a big win for the club

But yeah… highly likely whoever they take tonight will be delisted in two years time 🤷‍♂️

It's just that the points to match are so low that it basically doesn't present an issue after a certain point.

The number gets higher but the pick doesn't lose value as it's value is pinned to available players and that doesn't change regardless of where the Camporeales and Cochrane get bids.

Last night, we really moved up to pick 41 in terms of available players.

I'd be very surprised if Hamish Davis is still around by our pick, especially with West Coast on the board at 30 & 44 and Freo up at 34.

Previous years we've seen both teams take local talent whenever available, even at a reach.
I want Davis, so just shut your mouth.

Surely Brisbane do us a solid now and trade 46 or 47 for our 53 & 61.

Picks 45, 47 and 48 would allow us to really pick the players we want without having to hedge against other clubs picks.
i agree, the only issue is 53 and 61 used to be 60 and 66, which we got from brisbane in the trade. Not sure we could swing that.

Stupid tweet, they weren’t ever taking Whitlock with pick 8. More likely they were taking the best tall available with whatever pick they received, and Whitlock was it when they finally got a trade.
Pretty sure I would trust their word over yours when it comes to who north wanted. They may well have had their sights set solely on whitlock and were prepared to take him as high as 8.
