I think you're right BTW although I also think Draper a chance also personally but from a build, height, skillset POV I think FOS seems a more natural fit to our current assets. Smilie looks a touch oversized and I'm not sure how that gels with his apparent lack of physicality - which at that size is a bit of a worry and also doesn't seem very Clarko. There's not much else on the taller mid size list at the pointy end.
Langford at 190cm is the other taller mid in the top 6.

I've got no inside information but if we keep pick 2 and I'm putting it on the line, I think we'll select FO'S.

I think he makes the most sense from a list management perspective, but in the end this is just guesswork.
And if Tigers pick FOS at 1, who do you think we'd go then? Lalor? Draper? Smith? Smillie? Langford? Tauru?

A yeah you're right. Not sure he has the right point of difference for our team though. It's not just about height obviously. Seems a touch slower and therefore maybe plays too similar to what we already have. Not saying no though, he's definitely an option for us but I agree for type FOS seems a better balance to what we already have. If he's gone at 1 it will be interesting. I can see us going for Draper and we can be more willing to have Sheezel and even Wardlaw forward more as the years go by.

I think he's the most versatile (both in terms of position and also roles he could take in the midfield) and athletic of the lot, and so I think he has the highest ceiling.

For example, Jagga Smith might be the better inside midfielder with more runs on the board this year, but Finn has the overhead marking and ability forward of the ball to be used as a forward.

Langford could also be a better midfielder, but Finn is quicker and could be utilised as a line breaking winger (which I think is a position of need for us), which I don't think Langford could.

Draper is pretty comparable to Finn, but one is from SA and the other VIC. I like Finn's overhead ability more if we're trying to find something.
I think Finn could be very good off half back as well with with overhead marking, kicking, movement and defensive abilities. Even though he will probably mostly play mid/wing, we won't be forced to play him just as an inside mid like some mids we have. He will be able to play all thirds of the ground.

Yep I agree. Just mentioning he and Smillie are the taller mids if we want to go that direction.
Langford would complement our mids and does a lot of things well but lacks the acceleration of some others like Draper, but I guess Bont and Cripps had a similar 20m sprint time. He's more of a workhorse who picks up speed as he gallops.
His marking is great, nice penetrating kick (can spray them a little), tough in the contest, but needs to work on his handballs (can be a bit loopy with them and misses targets) to be closer to the level of FOS/Smith skills.
I'm hesitant on Langford because we've always taken that slower mid type, and even though Langford is a strong endurance runner, I'm probably keener on FOS/Lalor/Draper/Smith for the extra class/upside and athleticism.
But having said that, if we chose Langford I wouldn't be too upset, but we'll wait and see who we like.

Is there an Isaac Smith clone available if we do split?

All our hard running wingers have had shit disposals, seems like it's a position harder to fill than a small fwd, at least we had LT, when was the last time we had a trusted gut runner on a wing?

We're scum. We suck.
No we're not, everything's going to be alright, hold the fort, come draft night we will get the player/players we want! The chances that anything was going to be traded today was like a 1000-1, I'm guessing when the tigers make their first selection on draft night that's when things will heat up or shall I say come to fruition. There will be plans in place either way, I know this has been said about 10,000 times but we need to have a little more faith, things are never as bad as they seem. :)

Hi Souup. I know you're a big fan of FO'S and don't doubt anything you say but the thing that worries me most about him, and yes he has had injuries, is that he has barely fired a shot all year in the games he has played. Certainly not to the level that screams 'take me at pick 1 or 2'. Where on the flip side, you have other players at the top of the draft order that have come on in leaps and bounds and are considered to have even more upside. Seems extremely risky to me.

Xavier Lindsay, in my opinion the ideal proto-type modern winger, the best kick in the draft and boy can he play to, got injured very late in the year, but he's very good player, about the closest player I would say but in saying that Isaac was a hell of a player who did it at two clubs.

XL doesn't have the height or booming kick though, or gallop right?

From the small sample, seems like a Stephens type that won't really change the make up of the list, but yeah for sure, would be a handy inclusion and likely upgrade on both Stephens or Scott.

A quick, silky outside runner would be a huge upgrade. MCkercher's role next year will be one to watch.

Please don't draft for positional need at the top of the draft. That can change from year to year and you can fill needs in any number of ways.

However, your list does impact your appetite for risk.

We don't need a safe pick as much as Richmond or West Coast. They need a McKercher or a Sheezel. They need a player who can average 30 touches for a decade and be an engine for their rebuild.

We can afford to swing for the fences, in my opinion. We should draft a player who has match-winning, x-factor attributes, even if they might be high risk.

No doubt a worry and there's an element of risk there and I can't really fault anyone for not wanting anything to do with him due to his lack of production and/or accumulation this year.

Ultimately there's a risk with all of them, just depends which risk you want to take on.

FO'S risk is production this year and finding the ball has been a problem (although this wasn't an issue last year)
Langford's is his being one-paced and his size at junior level being an advantage
Take your pick with Jagga (and I really like him): midfield only, skinny and lack of hurt factor for some
Draper: SA prospect and his manicness at times leads him to blaze away and make some weird decisions
Lalor doesn't have composure in the contest, disposal is a little iffy and I worry that his size helped him at junior level

For me, FO'S actually has the least amount of risk attached with him when you consider him as a prospect apart from his production (I know how stupid that sounds because you want a bloke with runs on the board). I suppose the reason I'm willing to give him a pass on production and accumulation is because he had no issue with these in his underage year. There's really no clear and obvious flaw in his game for me, at least in comparison to the others.

Actually think Langford, while I luv FOS and Draper, suits us better…..looks like a classic Clarko player to me ……Hodge and Lewis vibes for me. Big body, ridiculous footskills, and unbelievable overhead……unlike Lewis of course, but has the rest of Lewis covered IMO.
We really can’t go wrong, unless we reach for Tauru. He could be unreal, could be a bust.
