Me.

Try this; Trade Saints F1+62 for GWS's 15&16+56 and I'm on board.

Death rides are good and all, but can't really see us finishing above St. Fiddler next season.

--Then, the key trade is to Essington (after Tauru is taken at 5 by Demons)
7 + F2(20ish) for 28, 31 & 2xF1(12ish,14ish)

15=LHotton (injured gun)
16=XLindsay (Winger)
28=Hannaford (Small Forward)
31=KGerryn (CHF/Strong)
56=BBarrett(goal kicker w zip)
Rookie= StevoJr (tough,goals)

Still have Ours, Saints, Carlton's R1 picks for '25 to plug gaps, and potentially get Sharp.

Coming. List Balanced.
As mentioned we only have 4 spots and one might be River.
And Benny Barrett is tied to Port's NGA.

I’d probably take Smillie over Langford. I think Smillie is next in line after the top 4. Ashcroft, Smith, Lalor, Fos. Then I would say Smillie then Draper then Langford.

I dont see the hype around Draper to be honest, now Langford. No real POD with those two. If langford had some wheels he would be in the mix for the top 3.. his game wont cut it in the AFL. He wont be able to pull his moves as easily and will get punished.

Im actually sleeping on Smillie to be the best of the bunch.
I'd probably agree Smillie over Langford, but wouldn't be mad with either of them if we slide down the order.
Smillie has more upside, but his lack of competitiveness in the contest will perhaps not tick the Shinboner values boxes of being driven/competitors/reslient. I'd love to know what Viney and Clarko think of him, not sure they'd like that.
Smillie could potentially be the best player in the draft from an upside point of view or he could be a bust.

Langford is more of a competitor, tougher in the contest, stronger workrate/tank, reslience and drive to be great, but lacks speed and won't have the time and space at AFL level. But is that Jordan Lewis mould perhaps.

I think I'd be taking FOS (athleticism/skill/competitiveness/defensive pressure) as he ticks a lot of boxes and has versatility to play wing/hbf/small forward roles for us. But we might not get a look at him if Tigers pick him.

Draper I like as well, less versatile perhaps, burst of speed, competitive, defensive pressure, leader.
But the SA factor has me a little gun shy after JHF. Not sure his skills are as good as FOS or Smith though.

Smith, just a very high level decision maker. Solid 20m (3.09s) and 2km was 6:26. Slight frame is a concern.

Lalor could be anything. Bit of Rayner and Dane Swan about him. Powerful player, but injuries and tank a concern.

I don't honestly know anymore, think I'll just ride the wave. They all have some positives and negatives.

Carlton could swing an early draft surprise as the Blues weigh up selecting South Australian midfielder Sid Draper with their No. 3 pick.

It is understood that Draper met with the Blues on Friday, with any potential play for him set to have ramifications down the order.

Carlton has long been linked to Victorian midfielder Finn O’Sullivan with its first selection, who is a second cousin of Sam Walsh.

However, rival clubs believe that O’Sullivan is no certainty for that selection as Draper firmly comes into calculations.

Draper is rated by some as the most explosive midfielder in the draft pool, drawing comparisons to Sydney star Chad Warner.

Blues trying to get some draft capital off Crows?

Exciting times. Wish the draft was this week

Are we passing at pick 2?

That'd do nicely.

He's definitely the best fit from a needs perspective out of the mids. I've been of that position since around March.

I love Draper and I actually think he will probably be a better AFL footballer than FOS.

But we already have Powell struggling for center square minutes and we are shoe horning him onto flanks etc. Phillips can't get a game/sub.

People can say Draper can play other positions, but it's like me saying Powell can play other positions. If you want a small forward, or a half back - draft an elite one, not put a top 3-4 pick there.

FOS will be an elite runner between the arcs, is great overhead, is an excellent (bordering on absolutely elite) ball user and is tough and agile.

He's the prototypical wingman from 20-30 years ago.

I also think it's important, if we run McKercher off a wing long term, we have an aerial presence on the other.

We'd be getting our McCluggage/Josh Kelly.

I have no issue picking Draper, but we really should have planned for that 4 weeks ago, as his recruitment would spell trouble for Powell and WP long term.

Yeah, you're right. They're both terrific prospects, but you can't have them all.

You don’t think Draper could do well developing into a winger, Sphynx?
