No they’ve just always wanted him, everyone has been saying FOS but the reason they wanted 3 was for Draper

What if 🐯's want Draper @2 ?

Leverage to get 6 & 10 from them ?
Anything that screws Carltank can only be good for everybody, right ? And the country as a whole.

Draper and Smith are definitely the strongest, least risk one-two punch for a team completely rebuilding their midfield.

Nah, nowhere near as big and athletic in his game (particularly) style as him.

He's more more languid and mercurial.

Think McCluggage rather than Callaghan.

Callaghan is like an inch bigger than LDU.
Love Callaghan. Would’ve traded 2 for him this year. Boom! Job done. Gun.

It’s like when gws were playing cogs as a hff for years. His best spot is as an out and out mid and his production wasn’t as good at half forward.

You can’t just play 15 mids across the ground, sometimes you need to draft blokes for wing, half back half forward

Yep. He's a midfielder. All of LDU, Wardlaw, McKercher, Powell and Phillips play their best footy on ball. Sheezel is a freak that can play anywhere. Anyone we draft has to have versatility. Someone like Draper doesn't fit.
I know myself and others have continuously asked similar questions ad nauseam, but who represents the most sure-fire, bang-for-buck versatility in the top 6? FOS, Langford, Lalor, Smillie?

So just so I'm understanding this correctly, we've gone out of our way to open up 4 list spots and as it currently stands, we have 2 picks?

Great stuff!
In the first 4 rounds we have 2 picks, which seems to be what is usually reported. But at the start of the draft we will have 4 picks, which would be something like 2, 62, 69 & 72. If we don’t make any changes, which seems highly unlikely, we would end up taking pick 3, a couple in the 50s and River.

The supremely talented Sam Lalor appears to be firming as the favourite to be taken at pick 1 in next weeks National Draft. Unfortunately, calling these FULL season highlights is rather wishful thinking on my part as Lalor suffered through a series of injuries in 2024 which severely limited the amount of footy he was able to play.

I think somebody earlier in the thread referred to FOS and maybe even McKercher as archetypal 80s/90s wingers and that's exactly the problem here. The wing is just not the same position today as it was 30-40 years ago. There's a lot more nuance, especially on the defensive side.

I reckon we take 2 or 6 and 10/11. If it's 2 we will try to trade a future pick. We also have K. Dawson who needs to be upgraded to main list or delisted and placed back on rookie list. River will depend on a bid, but likely on rookie list.
So probably 3 and 1 in the draft and 1 spot left for a vfl player.
So only need to fill the one extra spot in the draft so either 2 and F2 for pick 26 -34 ish (want to kep F1) or 6 and 10/11
Dawson upgrade and River rookie.

He reminds me of a young LDU. He could be his clone...Same running style, marking, footy nause, but what is his speed over the first 10 meters compared to LDU...
