It sounds utterly bonkers to suggest another 182cm midfielder (I think we'd have to try and find a way to get rid of Powell, preferably with Rachele coming back the other way), but after today, do we have a choice other than Draper? Mature temperament with natural leadership traits (whatshisface never had those), and pace, agility and a defensive edge to burn? Sheezel needs help. I don't see him getting it from anyone else near the top
I just watched the Sid Draper highlights again from his SANFL stints.. this kid is special.

If we could team him up with Wardlaw, Sheez and Colby it would be the best midfield in the league in a few years time.

Unfortunately for us we need a Shanahan/Armstrong and Berry too.

Jesse Dattoli is a ripper and would love to have him if we miss out on Berry. Would be available at pick 22.

Our trading during the off-season and live trading on draft night will be very interesting.

Dattoli more than likely to be there after 30

A tough game for the Panthers and a tough game for Sid Draper, the first SANFL game this year in which he's struggled to have an impact. He appeared to be put off his game at center bounce early by the bigger and more experienced Glenelg mids that pushed him off his run at the ball. As a result he never really got going, and was eventually moved out of the middle to play off a forward flank in the second half, which starved him of opportunities with Glenelg dominating territory. He still managed one sequence where he burst clear and broke the lines with elite pace and agility before dishing off to create a goal for his teammate.

He worked out that he was shooting up to our pick

Remarkably this was Finn's first appearance in the Talent League since the opening game of the season. The Chargers have been a huge disappointment all year, but this was the first time since the first quarter of the opening game that they've had their Rolls Royce of a midfield trio all playing at full capacity and they rolled over the red hot favourites for the Talent League crown. Finn was hugely influential through the middle early before seeming to run out of tickets in the second half and playing largely in the forward line. We're finally getting to see the real Finn O'Sullivan at something approaching full capacity and he looks to be making a late run at pick 1.

Malakai Champion was quiet for Subiaco today against Claremont - 10 possies and nothing on the scoreboard, but Subi were well beaten.

Declan Mountford lined up on him in the pocket before the bounce, shook his hand and then proceeded to physically, cynically scrag and harass Malakai, putting him down off the ball with cheap hits. The ump had words. The ump had words at 1/4 time. Finally MC had enough, ran through Mountford at a stoppage, giving away a 50 and a goal. Despite the loss of discipline, kudos to the 60+kg Champion though, he didn't look to have lost his cool, but wanted to let Mountford know he wasn't going to take any sh:t. Looks a tough little bugger.

Malakai is fast, and he has a lovely long kick, despite his stature. Looks like a kid in the WAFL, so he's a way off, physically.

Thanks again to the WCE Eagles Academy for his development.

At this point I would like:

Draper at 2
M Whitlock at 22

At 40 it’s a bit more of who falls but my targets would be:
Gerryn, Mraz, O’Farrell as KPP if one slips

Jaques, Grego as genuine smaller defender types
Alger, Unwin, Hannaford as small forwards but with both the small defenders and forwards listed may be able to get them as rookies.

Would be looking to definitely try to rookie the best mature age small forward (or 2) out there. Just look for the right traits.
An attacking midfielder in Sid Draper at 2 and Matt at 22, curious hoff, tell me why you would have Matt at pick 22 if those are the picks we take to the draft.

For one I rate Matt’s versatility. I prefer Jack as a forward but I am operating under the assumption that he, Shanahan and Armstrong will be selected in the first round.

I think he’s very fluid for a guy almost 200cm, has the athleticism and the runs on the board at both ends, decent skills too.

It would probably be between M Whitlock and Sims as I think in this draft specifically a key position player (or 2) needs to be a priority. I think the flexibility to develop Matt at both ends is intriguing with the list we have (I.e. with Comben & W Dawson)

He would have been lost to the game...

Its to big a risk for the Tigers to take in a fresh rebuild. I think chance they go hard at pick 2 though.

Stats and output there is daylight between Smith and FOS. FOS has that dirty word attached to him... potential. That being said if he finishes league much better will get taken.

If we had pick 1 then I would be taking FOS, but Draper has put together a better year overall. Is Draper too fast & skillful for you?
Draper has been very average this year

I’ve got him behind all of Smillie, fos and lalor

FOS also hasn’t had that good a year also partly due to injury

Disagree. If they trade out Rioli & Bolton then they will be having multiple hits well inside the first round. They will be well positioned to take so called 'risks', although I don't consider FOS any more of a risk than the other highly rated first round prospects.

Draper had shin stress fractures early in the season. The only way he is not in the top 3 on our board would be if we considered him too much of a flight risk. FOS/Smith/Draper/Langford all higher than Smillie/Lalor.
