Murphy Reid is class but just wish he was taller

If we had a tall midfield then I’d be all about him but I have hesitation on 180cm mids

Yeah I’m a bit the same, whomever picks him will be very happy. But don’t think we can carry him in the middle or forward line. Not super quick and not big. Just very very smart with the footy and tough.

good to have some sort of stream I guess, but there is an element of looking though a microscope trying to follow this game
I feel like I always have to bite my tongue on this stuff because I complain about it a lot and I dont want to be a whinger... but the lack of production value for these events the AFL does themselves is always atrocious. When Fox are involved its significantly better.

Here the cameraman has forgotten where the zoom button is and the resolution is terrible. Its like watching blurry ants crawl around on screen. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of junior footy.

At least they figured out the sound this time.

Not really a need and unrelated to the national champs, but Jean-Luc Vellisaris has just racked up 20 first quarter disposals against Coburg. Surely has to find himself on an AFL list at some point.

Your not a whinger, what you say is so true! I guess one step at a time?

To us, traionor is starting to look better and more suitable particularly if we don't get the no.1 pick, likely to happen as we might win against tigers and wc later on this season.

I really don't want us to get another short small sized mids who are good at junior level but gets found out at senior.

If we can't get pick 1, then trainor it is.

Smillie getting more of the footy this quarter but has been caught HTB twice. Doesn’t look like he is dealing with the pressure that well.
Strange game from Josh, done some nice things but been beaten so far for the day. One quarter to go. Luke Urquhart playing some sort of game.

Metro’s depth rising to the occasion now.

Really feel like all the metro mids lack damage. Plenty of accumulators there, but none of them have really elite disposal or breakaway speed and none of them are real physical competitors either. Smith, Ashcroft, Smillie, Gross and Morares will all be decent players in their own right, but I’m not sure any of them will be at that top tier talent at AFL level.

You can add onto that Reid, Greggo, Johnson, King, Anderson(not playing), etc. Feels as though there are so many guys who can be effective and above average AFL mids. However, the difference will be team fit and development that determines who succeeds.

For sure. Retshcko probably falls into that category as well.

My own votes for the game, top 5 players on the ground:

5/ Jagga Smith {VIC METRO}
4/ Luke Urquhart {WA}
3/ Levi Ashcroft {VIC METRO}
2/ Thomas Sims {VIC METRO}
1/ Isack Kako {VIC METRO}

Luke Trainor played better as the game went on and I thought Harrison Oliver did some lovely things, he's such a good kick.

What did you think of Trainor? Unlucky not to make top 5?
Played very well, he so reminds me of Jacob Weitering, an interceptor, but as the game went on his confidence grew and played like it. The fact that he loves our club and supports us is somewhat of a hard thing to put to the side but you can't put sentiment in there or it can cloud your judgement and then the question becomes where does it stop? He didn't do his draft chances any harm, lets put it that way.;)

Yes, if we can't get pick 1, then he seems to be the clear best next choice

Yes its an interesting next four months that's for sure, so much more to play out and as I've said what pick we are going to have will be the question, so many ways to go. Will's thinking on this matter as well as Brady's will be a highlight I feel, Brady has done the best he can and I thought he redeemed himself last year with not only the deals we made but the players we took, he sometimes gets a bad wrap on here, in his job I feel if people are going to can him that's fine but give him credit when he does good things, it goes both ways.

If thats the case, what a luxury it would be to have to have him as a third tall and then take over from Logue in 3 or 4.

BUT... i cant help but look at Sydney and their mid ranged running power and think we need more! There's really not anything special with their key talls outside of Grundy.

I think was an interview with Rowbottom after the game when asked about their huge midfield batting depth, and said they put huge focus on those guys being able to play multiple positions.

I cant help but think how much more dynamic our mids would be with gun running machines on the wings such as McKercher and FOS or maybe ball magnet Smith. Just look at the damage Gulden does off a wing, bloody 41 possessions this week.
