Bush Kanga deserves royalties for being first to post the concept that had we traded for an early pick and taken Matt, nobody raises an eyebrow. Other posters have plagiarised this since.

I'm pretty judgemental on straight up pick trading, but clubs emphasise its about players not picks and this is a perfect example.

I don't think we necessarily don't rate the 2025 draft. We just really rate Matt Whitlock and want our young KPF in our system building up NOW.

Just as an addition, what most of you are saying through your melts is that you don't trust Sheezel, Wardlaw, Parker, Daniel, Comben, Larkey, McKercher, Curtis, LDU, Xerri, Simpkin, Logue, Archer, Corr, FOS, to get us off the bottom. With a potentially returning-to-normal Clarko at the helm.

If that's the case, what are we doing in this competition
Parker’s leadership alone and we don’t fall to pieces against Freo, Collingwood and West Coast this year.

Looking forward to the development of others, a healthy Logue and FOS

It’s been said already but it makes the Daniel trade look objectively bad.

Also, surely we could have traded that pick in 12 months time for most players from this draft, assuming we are bottom 4.

Anyways, doesn’t look great on paper and appears to load a heap of pressure onto Caleb and Whitlock but hopefully we have a Hawthorn like leap and we are patting ourselves on the back in 12 months time.

It’s hard to see happening but we can dream.

You would think the Richmond F2 is odds on to get traded for Jack at this point to probably the Dogs.

It's as close to some of the F1's that will get waved around, we will more than likely throw in 53 also, as we wont use it.

F2 (Rich) and 53 for the Dogs pick (our original R2 pick) is what I think will happen.

Im not sure of the exact rules, but generally you cant trade the same pick back in, but given the pick number has changed so significantly I think it will get ticked off by the AFL.

I doubt Jack lasts until that second Dogs pick.

West Coast would be the danger imo.

I'd be shocked if Richmond took Jack after taking Faull, Armstrong and Trainor. Although that might be why we selected Matt first if we are intending to trade up for Jack. As Richmond would be more likely to add Matt as a second KPD rather than Jack as a third KPF.
FMD...if you are correct and we trade Rich F2 to get back our original pick 25 so the Daniel trade at the end of it was our F1 for Rich 24 and F2, then Rich F2 for Daniel?

Did we trade our first for next year for our own Priority pick?
"Roos' trade for Richmond's final R1 pick is quite stunning. Ironically, it was originally their selection from their assistance package. Was sent to GC and then to RICH before landing back in North's lap"

yep i would have much rather not get daniel

used the daniel pick to grab a whitlock/shanahan

and meant we would still have our f1 instead of tigers f2

I went to sleep thinking “ah well, keep our F1 and try again tomorrow with F2nd and F3” … woke up for a piss, had a look on here and what the **** have we done?

The AFL should have stepped in and pulled that trash up. FFS
I thought we'd made it with the f1 still in our pocket as well. Was actually kind of impressed with Brady and the boys for doing well and keeping our prized picks in 2 + f1 rather than taking bad deals lol. FFS. I'm still a bit stunned.

Geelong haven't had a top 5 pick since 1990. How many do we bloody have on our list? And how many top picks become busts? With the amount of talent we have under 27, we should be able to take 0 picks next year and still be in flag contention in a few years time with the talent we've already got.

I think it would be easier to stomach if we didn't spunk pick 25 on Caleb Daniel

Pray he does.

He is going to be compared to a pick 2/3/4 his whole career. It isn’t fair.

Phillips has to see a psych just to deal with the pressure of being eternally compared.

This shit rarely ever turns out well.

Well the absolute doomsday scenario is still in play for Matt's career.

Richmond take Jack at the very next pick. Becomes the better player and pocket our F1 and a top mid next year, forever compared AND the trade is brought up at every mention of Matt.

Thursfield made the “player not pick” comment only Monday. Also mentioned that we wanted to bring next year’s pick into this year to fast track the development back in the club fluff piece a month or so ago.

Apart from the initial “oooh what’s happening here?” moment, thus type of move was flagged .

Oh No Fire GIF

what have i come back to?
Ha ha ha, according to some and that includes some opposition posters with their remarks, Arden street is going to get burned to the ground joining St Kilda's no elite midfielders when they possibly had the chance to trade up and get one of their choice.

On to night 2.

Gws are keen to bank 36, our 25 2nd may come into play here if we can't get in sooner.

Perhaps the dogs at 31?

Shanahan, Whitlock, Sims, Gerryn, Mraz, O'Fareell still plenty we could use on the board.

Eggs are already in the basket, may as well go all in.
Yep get one of Shanahan, Whitlock, Sims, Gerryn to add to our whitlock then it will look like great business
