Do we take Whitlock at 9? If we would have then it makes sense, but I get the feeling we take a higher rated player.
If not Whitlock, then possibly Armstrong or Faull. I suspect we had them ranked in that bracket of 10-15. Honestly, once the draft got to pick 8, the only interest was where the talls would go. Every other player seemed pretty beige.

Tauru surely. I know a few seem to think it may have been a red herring, but I can't see us passing on him

Why didn’t we just trade the F1 during trade week?

Carlton traded their future first to Hawthorn for Pick 14 and our F1 has shitloads more value than Carlton’s.

If you were going to piss away the F1 you probably could have done a deal with Essendon for Pick 9.
Watching Goldstein running around in those shit colours is bad enough but to watch the scum and Scott have our F1..you can only take so much!!

If Beveridge is to be believed, noone wanted to give up a spot in this draft even dangling a possible 5 pick in 2025...scum wanted points and Melb wanted to get another top 10er, kudos to them for that trade...

Not defending the trade, but I'm certainly in the "we need to start winning games of footy" this trade, bringing in the senior guys - clearly means there's clear expectations that enough is enough.

If we have similar year to the last few - this trade will be the least of our problems.
It’s all or nothing. Won’t be any supporters left if we finish near the bottom again next year.

I'm not Robinson Crusoe here. Regardless of how well Whitlock turns out, it is a shambles because we gave up an F1 to get back a pick we traded for Caleb Daniel. That is simply incompetent.

It's a shambles of list management, which is why I am pissed off with the list manager.
You seem surprised?
Rawlings has butchered our list to the extent that a bottom 3 finish again in 2025 is likely.

WHAT THE ****?

No No No GIF

Just as an addition, what most of you are saying through your melts is that you don't trust Sheezel, Wardlaw, Parker, Daniel, Comben, Larkey, McKercher, Curtis, LDU, Xerri, Simpkin, Logue, Archer, Corr, FOS, to get us off the bottom. With a potentially returning-to-normal Clarko at the helm.

If that's the case, what are we doing in this competition

No we don’t, Whitlock just needs to work out
Pray he does.

He is going to be compared to a pick 2/3/4 his whole career. It isn’t fair.

Phillips has to see a psych just to deal with the pressure of being eternally compared.

This shit rarely ever turns out well.

On to Day 2.

This is who is available from my personal rankings:

9. Jack Whitlock
14. Jobe Shanahan
16. Alex Dodson
17. Kayle Gerreyn
26. Tom Sims
28. Tom Gross
29. Harry O’Farrell
32. Noah Mraz

Get me Jack Whitlock, Jobe Shanahan or Kayle Gerreyn with one of our F2’s or ideally an F3 and I’ll walk away from this draft a little happier.

You would think the Richmond F2 is odds on to get traded for Jack at this point to probably the Dogs.

It's as close to some of the F1's that will get waved around, we will more than likely throw in 53 also, as we wont use it.

F2 (Rich) and 53 for the Dogs pick (our original R2 pick) is what I think will happen.

Im not sure of the exact rules, but generally you cant trade the same pick back in, but given the pick number has changed so significantly I think it will get ticked off by the AFL.

I doubt Jack lasts until that second Dogs pick.

West Coast would be the danger imo.

I'd be shocked if Richmond took Jack after taking Faull, Armstrong and Trainor. Although that might be why we selected Matt first if we are intending to trade up for Jack. As Richmond would be more likely to add Matt as a second KPD rather than Jack as a third KPF.

Probably yes, but the gap between mitlock and the rest to our staff was probably not much. but it's impossible to know what's going on in the minds of Brady and Will 🤷

This type of thinking is silly dude. All we need is for Whitlock to be gun for it to be a win.

It’s not silly though.

The club in the past has given up Serong, by trading out of the 2019 draft and then we also gave up a future 2nd for Coleman Jones.

We have the worst track record when it comes to these trades.

Yep. Along with anyone half decent on the list wanting out.

Yep. I get this board loves a melt (shit, even I have a good sook on gameday) but may as well shut up the joint if we're that bad again next year.

Some of the "no pressure" comments so far have been a bit disappointing.

Logue - coming off serious injuries
Archer - still very raw
FOS - yet to play a game
Jy - small mid who lacks class/poise
Corr - reasonable 3rd key defender
McKercher - has played 5 good games
Wardlaw - concussion/injury concerns
Parker - past his best…….

So yeah, I don’t trust the above group to get us off the bottom. They might. But you can’t think that with any confidence whatsoever. If you’re being honest/non-biased.

You'd think our F2 + F3 would have got it done.

Remarkable.
You don't think we tried that, it was a future first or no deal and we obviously rated Matt a middle first round prospect and when he kept on getting overlooked the chance to get him came at a price but to our recruiting team we had to get him, I reckon we had him going in the teens but he slid like a slippery snake, gutsy call and not waiting another 12 months, we did what I said we would do, only I got the wrong player, now he's the right player and 100% behind this boy, GO MATT WHITLOCK, YOUR NOW A KANGAROO! :star:
