Geelong haven't had a top 5 pick since 1990. How many do we bloody have on our list? And how many top picks become busts? With the amount of talent we have under 27, we should be able to take 0 picks next year and still be in flag contention in a few years time with the talent we've already got.

And they are the ones Im most wary of tomorrow.

If Richmond sell another pick to move back etc, it will be to a Geelong or Power etc for a F1.

If we traded F for and an F and picked a Whitlock with , then dare I say more people would accept it. In fact some would say well done Brady. It’s not about numbers, it’s about the players. Back the club, calm down and save your self a few hours next year on the draft thread!

Probably should be stickied at the top of this thread.

we could have guaranteed that by getting 27 and 28 for our f1

Richmond want to use that list spot.

I don't know if there's any inside info from GR regarding his post, but it's the only thing that makes sense at this point. Some sort of overall plan, where we have another deal agreed, where we offset what we just paid with getting Jack also.

It's just whether the plan gets scuttled by someone else, as he's clearly the best available at the moment, along with Shanahan.

Don’t care if he’s the next Carey, it is objectively an abysmal trade.

We win 3x as many games as we did this year in 2025 and there is a genuine chance we are still bottom 4.

Trading pick 2-6 for 27 and 30 is ****ing atrocious.

Particularly given that we had pick 25 yet ****ed it off for Caleb Daniel. Jack Macrae was worth pick 42. I’m quite happy with Daniel but we paid #25 for what is by definition a salary dump.

Paid F1 and pick 25 when realistically an F2 or F3 should’ve been more than enough ffs.

We make ourselves look like a joke more often than not.

It would be interesting to know the projections for talls in the 2025 crop.

If we rated no 2025 talls as projecting in the top 5-10 and on top of that rated Matt Whitlock likely ahead of those talls, I can sort of understand the thinking.

Whilst it's a hell of a gamble, we couldn't keep avoiding list needs forever. That we able to hit list need and net an internally rated player would've probably tipped the balance also.

Yep get one of Shanahan, Whitlock, Sims, Gerryn to add to our whitlock then it will look like great business

We have a bunch of talls, most untried. Not sure why we need to crazy this year. Bank the 2x 2nds next year and see where we are at after 2025. We could be on the right path or ready to implode, let's wait and see.

So Whitlock becomes the next Carey and our F1 next year becomes the next Dyl Stephens and it's an abysmal trade?

Clarkson (the messiah) back full time. Went out with priority picks to get senior players (lol).

*We didn't use our priority picks to get senior players, we were given trade bait picks as 'priority picks' that couldn't be taken to the draft and had to be used. "must be used to trade in players" or "future end of first rounders that may be taken away next year" both translated to the AFL saying "here are some picks, you'll use them on whatever sh*t-trucks who are getting tipped out of their current clubs that are available, and you'll be grateful 🖕"

And we ****ed it up majorly (again) on & off field & people just go “next year is the year! Time to start winning games! No excuses”.

*Serious question- what else do you expect us to do? if some of you lot were proposing to form some kind of supporters union to put together a petition where we call for the ousting of Jen/Son/Clarko/Schnoz, or the whole lot fine, but peoples workable solution to the woes of the club seems to ultimately revolve around relentlessly p*ssing and moaning on Bigfooty, savaging any employee of the club who so much as breathes in and out too regularly, often culminating in people declaring they're "done with this faaarkin club, cancelling my faarkin membaship!!!" on a forum that no one actually employed by the club will actually read.

This just reaffirms the joke status that North is in the AFL. Rawlings has no clue and to watch Clarko oversee this trade of our 2025 Pick 5 or 5 for pick 27 2024 ‘potential’ talent is confirmation that our recruitment is a key reason for our mediocrity now and future. Bottom 5 and Rawlings exit in 2025 is a lock now

so.....picking a scrawny teenager in the second round rather than the first round of the draft, in November 2025, will be the reason we have a terrible March to September 2025?? thats some Minority Report sh*t

You know what’s a bit sad?

The assumption is based on the past 5 seasons of output.

Don't see how it is fair that 20-22 is lumped in, considering the majority of the organisation has been turned over since then. At some point you have to examine this Clarkson era separately.

If we manage to trade one of the F2 for Jack. The trade would end up being a F1 for the Whitlock twins.
Nah mate it will be Caleb Daniel's fault.. bloody AA, Premiership winning. midget, stuffed up the whole of 2025 draft for our resident draft gurus!! He's clearly a Bulldogs plant..

Campaigner!
