Maybe little beggaroos will get their pet AFL diversity selection in Laura Kane to give them more free draft picks to butcher.

What a pathetic pos club that travesty is, about 3,000 supporters and selling games to WA.

Shittest, most irrelevant club in the AFL.with a racist, homophobic coach.

Farce of a club. Haven't noticed any of their rancid clowns over here tonight.

Can you believe some of these StK supporters 🤭🤭🤭
Lets forget about opposition supporters like this and do the best strategy known to man, win games next year and make these type of supporters very nervous about the future, of what we are going to become. ;)

All things considered, I don’t think I’ll sleep that well…
At the end of the day it's probably a swap of Pick 7ish for pick 19 and Whitlock.

The way I look at it, we're all passionate and we all want the best for the club. We'll agree to disagree on this one, but I'm sure there will be plenty in the future we'll agree on :thumbsu:

Some on this board seem to be making the point that future pics don’t matter as we need to win now, but somehow a KPP who needs several years is now, when a potential generational talent in the first round next year is not “now” enough?

I also am shocked people are surprised most expect North to come bottom 5 next year when we have been awful for ages. We all hope it doesn’t happen but you have to value our F1 based on the likely outcome, which is we finish bottom 5 and the pick is 1-5 and in return we’ve gotten 2 picks in the 20s.

Finally, you can hate the trade and still wish the boy the best, as I do. Although I do worry this trade will be hanging around his head forever.
I also should have said. People who say we don’t know if it’s a bad trade without a Time Machine or without seeing him develop first. No, you judge a trade and draft choice based on the information you have at the time. Otherwise we could trade our F1 for pick 150 because the player at 150 could in theory end up better than a top 5 pick.

If someone buys their first home, and an asteroid destroys it a month later, I don’t blame the person who purchased the home and say, oh in hindsight this was a bad call, bad deal from you there.

Adding to what you've said above, the choice of Matt Whitlock and the suggestions that we read out the wrong name - there is nothing more obvious here than this being a Clarko call, preferring the versatility over the single position player.
My thoughts on the trade aside, I thought he was the better Whitlock earlier on in the year. Got moved down back so perhaps couldn't really show what he could do compared to Jack. I reckon he's a better ball user was first impression.

Melbourne got pick 9 for their future 1st. What did we get? 27+ f25. Well played Brady and co. Bunch of complete imbeciles.
Why do people keep forgetting 28, 40, 46, 54, 65 as points for Kako bid part of this trade?
It was 9, F3 for 28, 40, 46, 54, 65 and F1. That's why they didn't want our F1 alone for pick 9.
We would've had to involve something out of 25/44/62 this year to satisfy the points part.
So if it's 44 and 62, then we have to split 25 for a 30's and 40's pick, then 40's pick goes for Parker & Konstanty and then potentially 30's pick for Daniel or draft if Dogs reject it. May have had 2, 9, 30's pick (if no Daniel)?, 62? and no F1.

It's fair to criticise the deal of our F1 for 27 and Tigers F2, it looks like not great value, but to think we could've got pick 9 with just our F1 alone is not true based on the needs to satisfy a trade with the Bombers.

It's one pick in the early twenties and Whitlock.

We deserve all the shit that comes our way with that inept trade. Shameful
This year Gold Coast gave up pick 6 for Daniel Rioli. So say next year's pick 6 (our first) is a Daniel Rioli equivalent, good player but nothing special. We decided to go for a tall key forward this year (instead).
It sounds ludicrous to compare, and it is. Probably best then to calm down and make less over the top condemnations.

Edit: 6 and 23!

He wont give a **** about the trade. Nor should he. He's playing AFL football. Literally living his dream.

In fact, none of the players in the squad will give a shit about us having a 1st rounder next year, nor would i expect them to.

trade the 2 x future seconds for the brother. Skip the 25 draft all together. When you have made this much of a mess you might as well go all in
I know a conventional belief came to be that our biggest list weakness was tall forwards. I never agreed with that. What would you suggest to someone who believed our biggest list weakness was crumbling forwards? This is truly a list management disaster.

Hope to see your thoughts in the Pre Season thread in February, but nah, you won’t

I’m shocked you remembered your BF password

So if we get the other Whitlock tomorrow then we'll have Dawson (200), Maley (197), Whitlock (198), Whitlock (200) and Goad (208) as developing talls. That's a nice group.

With Larkey, Darling, Comben, Logue, Corr and Xerri in the best 22.

We'd be pretty set for every area of the ground other than small forwards, but we have a few developing small forwards who could put their hand up.
I keep reading this …..how we doing that? With pick 52? He will be gone in first lot of picks won’t he?

Make no mistake. The trading of our Future First for Pick 27 and Richmond's F2 will go down as one of the most moronic trades to have occurred ever. Before hindsight becomes a thing I am giving you all the hindsight. Bookmark Thread. :stern look

That’s just rubbish. Since future pick trading has come in natural draft order just hasn’t meant the same thing. Clubs have continually traded future picks then got back in with other trades. It’s the new norm.

Forget about the 2025 draft order. It will change many times tonight and will change many more times before and during the draft itself next year.

Forget about pick 27 as well. We traded for a particular player who we wanted. Draft picks are just currency and under the current system with two years into the future trading to come in next year the currency just isn’t worth what it used to be

It’s like buying a property and worrying about interest rate and 30 year loans. 2-3 years later when the property has risen 60% in value, nobody cares what exactly you paid for it or how much interest was

One of my main issues with MWhitlock during the year is the fact he's not a fantastic contested mark forward of the ball.

His speed and size means he gets his hands to a lot of contests, but he wasnt clunking contested marks. He double grabs a lot, he got a lot of his goals on the lead or over the top.

A little bit like Larkey in that regard.

Marking obviously improves with strength and body size, but as we've seen in the past, not always (Sam Durdin....)

Jack is a genuine contested marking threat, its why most clubs would have him above.

What he is, is an incredible athlete, great at ground level and an absolute booming accurate kick. He's going to be a 50m+ threat for goal. His marking would want to improve in an AFL environment.....

You may be right, but from my perspective and I'm no expert, but we aren't getting out of the bottom 6 next year and we just traded our only hope of completing our forward line next year for a pick closer to 30 than 20 x 2. It reeks of idiocy whether you understand the draft or potential targets, incoming rule changes or not. Sheer lunacy. Puts ridiculous pressure on the entire list, the poor kid and the whole club.

You don't have to know anything about football to understand the vagaries of human existence.

I'll shut up and maybe buy a membership but that's me being habitual and them having my credit card details, more than actual support.

That marking is what stands out in his videos ….double or doesn’t grab em …….improve that and he could be anything

Yep. I seriously think some of you are underestimating this point.

The "no excuses brigade" is a double edged sword.

If we start poorly, the media pile on will be something we honestly haven't seen before.

Not only do we need to improve as an actual football side, but we will be asking this same group of young players, to deal with that pressure at the very same time.

There's an equal, if not higher chance, they capitulate rather than rise to it.

The last team to do something potentially like this was Collingwood and they had Nick Daicos for a packet of 3rd rounders to offset it.

The microscope will be on everyone next year in the media. Some might welcome that for the likes of McDonald, Simpkin etc. However I wont for youngers players like FOS, Whitlock, Duursma, Dawson, Goad, Hardeman, Phillips, Powell etc.

The playing group would have honestly needed to have blown their socks off in these first 2 weeks of training.
