Who knows how it ends up, but I’m ok with the pick trade if it gets a KPP in they like and start developing asap.

This club need to start winning games NOW and moving up the ladder..

I for one couldn’t give a rats about 2026 potential draft hands ??? -after 5 yrs of shiteness … get moving in 2025 or ship off I say !

It should have just been the deal with Richmond in the first place for these two picks.

If they wanted to go balls deep, just F1 for the next two picks and both Whitlocks, F2 is an unknown at this stage.

Richmond is getting a F1 tomorrow for pick 28 for sure.

We will have the highest bid with a F2 for any picks in the 30s if we want.

People are ridiculous if they think the F2 is 19 next year.

The most probable outcome of this trade is we traded a top 5 pick for 27 & 28-30.

There’s more chance we traded a top 3 pick than pick 10-11. Based on the last 5 seasons and complete disaster of a seasons end we had where clearly our players don’t play for pride.

Get your hand off it if you think this is a good decision. What gives North Melbourne the right to have such blind faith in their ability to make the right calls? The last 10 years sure don’t
This just reaffirms the joke status that North is in the AFL. Rawlings has no clue and to watch Clarko oversee this trade of our 2025 Pick 5 or 5 for pick 27 2024 ‘potential’ talent is confirmation that our recruitment is a key reason for our mediocrity now and future. Bottom 5 and Rawlings exit in 2025 is a lock now

I don't really mind it, and I am not exactly Rawling's #1 fan. Richmond's F2 is going to be the first pick in the second round next year. I wouldn't worry too much about the number of the pick, I think he is a pretty good prospect.

I wouldn't be surprised if we trade one of the F2s tomorrow and look at another player.
Exactly what I was thinking..
Our F2 for another tall?

I hate it.

However let’s not put pressure on the kid. Hes now one of us and it’s the most important part of the rebuild, we need the pick to hit.

Will support him and fingers crossed it is a check mate move.

Who said he was the higher rated twin.

Plenty of people have had Matt ahead for parts of the year.

Jack is the more rounded footballer at this stage, but Matt is the far better athlete.

It's a little bit the opposite of the McKay twins. But the comparisons are apt. Matt = Harry in terms of the athletic gifts compared to Ben = Jack.

However in that instance Harry was also the more accomplished junior footballer. It's the opposite at the moment.

yeah, because that’s how you rebuild a 15 win in 5 year list - by pissing away limited avenues & means to improve the list.

We aren’t attracting free agents. We’re losing them. Our only avenue is getting value for top picks, not overpaying.
Spot on. Patchwork quilt. North are the worst modern day club in the AFLs recent history for a reason

I'm going to refrain from talking about how much I don't like this trade after this post, but another reason it is so shit is that Matt Whitlock won't be helping us rise up the ladder next year.

He has at least another 7-8kg left to put on before he's at a reasonable playing size and can impact consistently at the top level.

On the positive side, the kid is genuine modern day AFL KPP height, is as athletic as you'll find at that size and can play a variety of roles in either defense or up forward.

I still hate the trade on paper, but there's a real depraved part of me that loves how ballsy it is.
I'll trust the experts to bè honest ole mate

Those that are employed and paid

lol at all the melts.

Actually don’t mind it for a number of reasons

We had been trying to trade in from the saints pick. We must have rated Matt pretty highly.

Estimated pick 4-10 for 27 and let’s say 22, not the greatest but if you want something, sometimes you have to pay up for it.

An extra year of development into a key position player, as they generally take longer, this extra year could be invaluable.

From next year you can trade in picks 2 years in advance, maybe we start doing what Melbourne has been doing and trading in the following year back into the current draft. We are almost at a point where our draft choices should be based on need instead of best available, I say this because within 3 years, our natural draft pick range should and will be in 12 plus range, so if we start trading in future first from next year, this is the range we can target. It’s this range that seems to be those running half backs, small forwards and even some of the better key position players.

Just my 2 cents worth, hope it works out for the best.
