I have no doubt probably by year 3/4 we can lock it in Jagga will be a 25-30 possession player every week and does have nice clean hands in tight and will be a perennial top 5 best and fairest finisher throughout his career.

There are some massive concerns about his ball use though to my eye his kicking is a little overrated he struggles to kick further than 40 meters unless he has the breeze at his back, he looks a solid safe kick over 15-20 meters but there is a lot of sideways Matt Crouch crab like action in the way he plays and has no real penetration with his kicking. I’m probably nitpicking a bit but if you have a 50 possession game as a midfielder who has a clear fitness and work ethic advantage over the opposition but only 4 inside 50s there is an issue with your ball use.

Jagga’s work ethic is outstanding and I still would rate him top 10 however I wouldn’t be using a top 3 pick on him, with Lalor and O’Sullivan are probably gone at 1-2 personally I’d be favouring the point of difference that either Langford or Draper bring Langford with his contest and ability in the air and Draper with his speed and aggression.

Last time we will have such have a high pick.

Whomever we get will be a steal ;)

I'm just waiting for an early bid on the Campos.

"I can't believe he was still available.. he waa the highest on our draft board."

Na. we surely aint' giving up Jagga for a 'little something'

Still think North would prefer TAURU but aren't brave enough to back themselves in hence why they would trade down. Crows could offer their F2 and trade up possibly but sounds like that's unlikely now.

Crows have 3x F3 but 0x F2. Traded to GWS

Don't know why but have a feeling there's been a bit of cat and mouse, wouldn't be surprised to see Adelaide move up to our pick 3 for a little something our way. Most likely way off just getting that feeling.

Adelaide would have to think we're selecting the guy they want. And we would have to think that the guy we want isn't actually the guy they want. And then they'd have to offer enough to cover the risk of us getting our second preference of the two, but they won't want to overpay in case they're moving up for no reason because we don't actually want the same player....

All in all, I think it's unlikely that we trade with Adelaide. They might move up to 2 if Richmond throw a spanner in the works and take FOS at #1. That might have NM realign to Tauru and a trade down to #4.

Hence why I was able to report here a couple of weeks back that the Crows sought to give North one or two of their F3s

Wasn't worth much more than that to Adelaide. .
What I didn't know at the time was North asked for more.

They did offer 2 future 3rds to north but got knocked back

Yep. I believe I was the first to post the trade rumor here. Before it was posted in the media.

I know we are eyeing off some KPDs at 38, but this guy sounds like a good fit if still on the board....???

34. Archer Day-Wicks
Bendigo Pioneers/Vic Country
FWD, 185cm
2024 Champs: 3 games, 10.3 disposals, 4.0 marks, 1.3 goals
Talent League: 14 games, 17.2 disposals, 4.0 marks, 1.1 goals

Day-Wicks has huge x-factor quality in the forward 50, able to leap on heads and kick goals in a variety of ways. He's an underrated size for a small forward and has some strength to battle in one-on-ones. Day-Wicks needs to become a better pressure forward and could round out his game with more touches up the ground, but will be drafted as a genuine match-winner inside 50.

Has the Cal's late mail generally been on point in recent years?

Mostly.

Think a lot of it is falling into place now.

Cards still kept close to the chest but this time last week he said on socials that this was the hardest draft he'd ever worked on. Felt it could be organisation defining and overwhelming majority of clubs weren't being open.

Going off what he's posted the last two or three days I notice a massive confidence shift. Clubs still quiet but player agents and the like talking and have a fair idea.

A couple of problems I see with Jagga Smith…

He’s a Collingwood supporter and his old man was on Collingwoods list when they won the flag in 90…

He played for Richmond’s VFL team…

He’s from Scotch College!

I can overlook all those but there is one more thing I wasn’t aware of until now and that’s he finished year 12 a year ago and has been a full time footballer this year and had a personal trainer too etc. so just wondering how much of m advantage he had over other juniors in the draft? Obviously he will have similar luxuries once he’s on an AFL list - but could others like FOS, Draper and Langford do more once they don’t have school commitments etc?

He was born on 28 Jan 2006, 6 months before a lot of the other draftees but still only eligible for this year’s draft.

I actually applaud his maturity to develop a professional structured routine and improve himself - rather than see it as a negative. Others may improve with a year of structured training maybe not.

Some draftees take a while to transition to an AFL environment and some never make the adjustment. Jagga has shown he’s serious about his football and determined to improve which places him ahead in my book.

It comes down to the personality and determination of a player at any age to want to continually develop and improve. Jagga has shown this desire and discipline. It’s why players like Cripps who was written off a couple of years ago comes back at 29 with a bang and a spring in his step.

That's if jagga is actually the preferred option. Wouldn't be saying that's certainly the case. We don't know.

My theory is for Crows:
Trade up to 2 is Jagga
Stay at 4 is Langford
Trade down to 6 is Draper

No trades happen if Tigers go Lalor, North go FOS, so here's hoping North throw a spanner in the works and take Tauru

My preference is Langford but all 3 will be guns, both getting a quality player here!
Feel free to correct me, but I feel that Adelaide needs high possession and high impact in the midfield. You’ve got tons of X factor in there, just need someone in there to get the ball to them. Langford and Smith seem like perfect fits for the crows
