The King!
Chosen One
Yeah agreed, but if we can stay on the opposite side of the draw, I would love a GF without a Vic team.
Well we have to play someone and it cannot be the Eagles I am guessing.

Imagine the salt if that had to play us in a GF in Sydney. Shoes on foots and all thatIt was the second time in NSW this year
Remember the media outrage in the mid 00's because the interstate teams were dominating? I long for a return to those days.Well we have to play someone and it cannot be the Eagles I am guessing.
IF we get into the granny, would u rather play the Lions or a Carlton/Geelong Kingy?Harder for the Pies, true
But the Lions look like they may actually be decent, and need them to bugger off as they could maybe match us more than others
I'd take that.Squiggle says Sydney v Freo

That was some first qtr by Carlton - Gerard Whatley on Monday
They’d be the one team I want to avoid in finals.GWS will be top 4 in two weeks after they beat Richmond and the Suns (in Sydney). Crazy year
This should be pinned at the top of every thread.Teams 2-10 are all pretty good on their day, but will only get a look in if 1 is below their best.
YesYou want my honest opinion?
Walsh has been poo
At least bring back Josh Bootsma if they're going to do such a stupid move to cover this. That’ll teach them to omit the great George Hewett.
Crowd 11k+GWS membership numbers look pretty good, but where are their fans? They play what? 7 a year at home, big game v the Blues, not many Giants there.
Super League War seemed to be the big breakthrough the Swans needed, lots of people were discouraged by what was happening to rugby league back then and the AFL served as an escape. People turned up around 1995-96.Gotta give GWS time to grow organically. I'd imagine a lot of their early fans base is parents with young kids who want their kids to support an afl team. And then other casual fans who just chose the new team because they live west and have a general interest in Aussie rules. And then the general casual fans who were never invested enough to support the swans, figured they'd jump on the Giants bandwagon as the shiny new toy. Over the next 2-3 decades that fan base will grow naturally.
I remember it wasn't too long ago that the swans were happy with a turnout of 30k+. I only started following in 2005 so I wasn't around for the more dire times.
That is exactly what happened, then we made the grannie, and the rest is history. Super League took away the tribal suburban ground origins of league. Once the masses saw AFL, many stuck with it.Super League War seemed to be the big breakthrough the Swans needed, lots of people were discouraged by what was happening to rugby league back then and the AFL served as an escape. We will see if the long game works for both expansion clubs, it could take generations.
