Wottabout Wines ?
Washed up ?
Role taken by younger better mids..and thats final ?

Same camp as Mills ?..are both carrying a problem that a good rest and preseason might fix ?

Such a conundrum, you’ve got to trade early it appears to get ahead of the pack but I’ll be f’d if I want to run out of trades again with 4 rounds to go.

Hopefully can start well next year and get away in some cash leagues so I’m not burning trades to keep up.

Tagging seems to be back a little more this year, so looking for players who don’t cop the tags might be a worthwhile cause.

Two blokes I absolutely want in my team next year are Hayden Young and Will Day. Both gonna be superstars.

Agree on Day, he's Bont 2.0. Will be a superstar.

Mid only and priced at 100 though. Too risky.

I had Mills as a lock, but he's getting harder and harder to pick. Sat at FB on the weekend when the Crows were coming. Mr Fix It.

Parker is still going strong, Warner and Gulden are becoming superstars, Rowbottom is improving and does his job, they love Papley in the 'burst from the middle and run forward' role, then add Sheldrick to the midfield mix. Do they need Mills in there? Probably not...

Right now, he's a no for me.

Young as a D/M is interesting.
Day @ $550k maybe, probably not though.

Very keen on Gulden, he's getting better and better. Can see him 120+ next year. There will be a lot of choice in the midfield next year.

There's gonna be a lot of value down back. Both underpriced and breakout contenders.

Doch, Sheezel, Young, Dale, NWM, Ash, Witherden, Himmelberg, Coleman.

Taking 2+ of Daicos, Sicily and Stewart doesn't seem feasible.

I reckon I'd be comfortable going Sheezel, NWM, Himmelberg and Coleman D1-D4.

bored in between writing cover letters so here are some players i will be watching next year

Def
coleman
- will be priced at 70 odd but can see a breakout with rich almost definitely gone and hopefully another preseason to further build his fitness base. if getting bulk kick ins can probably go 100+ as brisbane constantly look to play through him. injury prone though
dale - 100-105 average defender who will be priced below this. tag susceptible which usually means available cheap at some point in the season but can see him being a solid starting pick
sinclair - see above but 115+ average if given the pure half back role imo sinclair is the best half back in the game and one of my favourite players to own. will need to see how ross plans to utilise him during preseason as i think mid minutes hurt his scoring more than often than they help it
young - should go 100+ with this new mid role if he retains it with upside for even better scoring like a jordan dawson this year
Busslinger - high draft pick intercept defender which footscray need should be pushing for b22 next year. rookie priced
Z. Reid - high draft pick with poor injury run, essendon desperately need key position players at both end of the ground so if fit hopefully this guy makes us some good coin with js. rookie priced
Gibcus - See above but replace essendon with richmond, should be priced at about what jones was this year and be a solid on field option if given licence to intercept

Mid
macrae
- think hes too slow for the modern game personally but its hard to ignore the upside if he is given large mid minutes. rolled gold for supercoach in the past and will be severely underpriced on what he can deliver. probably a hard no if bevo is still coaching next year though
miller - dont think hes a lock. the mouths to feed in that gold coast on ball division are only getting to be bigger and will more than likely only hurt millers scoring from here. owning him the last few weeks of the year has been terrible seeing him start on hff and do tagging jobs. 120+ mid at his best but the situation at gold coast will need to be a close watch in preseason
mills - very risky pick given both the injury factor to himself and his role volatility if his teammates get injured but given inside mid time he is an 120+ mid that will be priced around 85. would want to see him come out and say he is playing primarily on ball and do so in the preseason matches before committing to him
green - my bold prediction is tom green will be m1 next year. a supercoach uber premium ready to explode, will be 23 next year, his scores since coming back from injury have made having to trade him out hurt so much more. perfect toolkit to be an 120+ mid
bytel - no trouble finding the ball at lower levels, hopefully he finds an opportunity somewhere (richmond?) and can be a good midpricer that is fieldable for a decent time and be a late upgrade. injury prone

Ruck
jackson + darcy
- both underpriced on what they can do but the question is how do fremantle handle their two rucks and can they both put up premo numbers in the same team
grundy + gawn - similar situation. dont think i would pick gawn because he hasnt played full seasons for the last 2 years now and hate doing trades in the rucks, but would need to consider, particularly if grundy left. grundy if he changes clubs would also need to be considered in the same vein
Briggs - this guy is so fun to own i want to pick him so badly. should be solo ruck tapping down to an elite developing on ball brigade and is good once the ball hits the deck too. can see him doing 120+ eventually, just a matter of if its as soon as next year

Fwd:
lynch
- ive missed out on gun injured kpf picks two years in a row now in curnow and allen, wont make the same mistake with lynch who will be the focal point of richmonds forward line with riewoldt gone. slightly concerning he is still in a moon boot though.
smith - especially if he moves clubs. think he will have forward dpp next year? can probably do 105-110 as a midfielder and if available as a forward will be a bit of a no brainer pick for me
heeney - think his forms been picking up since buddy retired and we saw in 2022 he can do 100+ even without midfield time. could 2024 be when we finally see the mythical heeney midfielder we have been promised for so long? either way think he should be a solid pick next year
flanders - wont be very cheap anymore but if forward eligible and given the keys to the gold coast midfield like he has in the back end of this year he should be a great selection for our forward lines. think he could miss out on forward dpp though
petracca - will he be forward eligible? if he is will be first picked

Wines knee is cooked. They have Rozee, Butters and JHF developing. He would be the 4th choice mid next year IMO.

Surely Flanders will be MID only? Hasn't seen the forward line since his first few games.

Forward line is going to be so fun next year. Lots are dreading it, but it'll make SC 2024 the best it's been in years I reckon. People will have 1, maybe 2 key forwards. Go back to the day when 90 average was fine for F4-F6.

This was after round 20

Sam Flanders

Midfield52%
Forward48%

And he's had the below CBA's. Been starting at half forward a lot and running to the contests. Reckon he'll keep forward status.

Even though Gibcus best spot is intercept defender i suspect with the retirement Jack he will be played in the forward line, at least intitially.
