Harry Sheezel and George Wardlaw are seen as North Melbourne’s future and both are both leading contenders for this year’s Rising Star.

But a forgotten pick from the 2022 AFL Draft has the talent to potentially surpass the duo at Arden Street, says interim coach Brett Ratten.

Brayden George was touted as a top-10 draft pick before an untimely ACL injury and was instead plucked by the Roos with pick 26.

He only joined main training in late June but Ratten has seen enough to place big raps on the 19-year-old.

“He could be the most talented out of this year’s crop. That’s a big call because Sheezel is playing so well and Wardlaw we know is very, very talented, but Brayden has got some real strong AFL attributes,” Ratten told NMFC Media in a member

And North want draft assistance…

If Fin Macrae gets a trade away from Collingwood he’ll be a juicy rookie likely to play bulk games (assuming he is traded to meet a need elsewhere). Big watch.

It's ridiculous ....I saw yesterday, NORTH have the most 1st & 2nd round players on their list, than any other Club ....28 players

Forwards is going to be the toughest position of 2024 IMO.

Realistically, we will know maybe 1 or 2 of the top 8 at the start of the year.

Possibility of plenty of value promos / mid pricers too.

Bazlenka, Sheldrick, Windhager, Pedlar, Bruhn, Perkins, JHF and Himmelberg all options.

I also am sceptical with all the chat with Touk, Mills, Steele etc.

Ideally I want to get to the end of round 2, and have no doubt in my mind that the premos I picked up are actually proper premos. If Steele bangs out two 85s, then the questions start getting asked, and I'll start getting trigger happy.

I'm thinking I go less premos to start but go the best ones.

Forward line looks a complete mess. There’s no chance of Dunkley, Taranto, Conigilo, Rozee, Gulden or Cameron holding forward status next year and it seems unlikely at best that Butters or Petracca will be forwards next year too. Basically leaves Macrae as a proven premium up forward.

Josh Dunkley, Jack Macrae and Jordan Dawson are DPP stars in KFC SuperCoach.
Successful KFC SuperCoach teams this year have been built around dual-position stars like Josh Dunkley, Tim Taranto and Jordan Dawson.
But that’s all about to change.

Dawson started the year as a defender but has become a top-line midfielder, while Dunkley has escaped Luke Beveridge’s magnets and cemented himself in the centre square in Brisbane.
Coaches knew they were lucky being able to pick players like Connor Rozee and Zak Butters in the forward line when they were destined for midfield roles at the Power, but some other position moves are more surprising.
Based on current numbers, Sam Docherty will be a midfielder only in KFC SuperCoach next year.
Champion Data locks in player positions each season based on a strict formula – if a player spends 35 per cent of game time in a secondary position, they earn dual-position status.
Docherty has spent 52 per cent of game time in the middle this year, 32 per cent in defence and 16 per cent forward.

Dawson, Taranto, Zak Butters, Connor Rozee, Errol Gulden and Stephen Coniglio all fall well under the 35 per cent threshold and are set to lose DPP status next season. Darcy Cameron, a RUC-FWD in 2023, is in a similar position after spending 88 per cent of game time in the ruck and just 12 per cent forward this year.
It’s not all bad news.
Nick Daicos is set to be listed as a DEF-MID in 2024 and Jack Macrae will be a FWD-MID based on current percentages, along with Sam Flanders, Ben Keays and Shai Bolton.
One player to watch over the final four rounds is Jack Sinclair. Over the first 20 rounds he has spent 37 per cent of game time in the midfield and needs to stay above 35 per cent to earn DPP for 2024.

Harry Himmelberg is sitting at 34 per cent forward time but that number is going in the wrong direction, playing down back in the Giants’ winning streak.
One player listed as a MID-only in 2023 who fantasy coaches would love to pick as a FWD next year is Christian Petracca, who has spent a lot more time forward in recent weeks. But that position move would need to ramp up spectacularly over the final four rounds – he currently sits at 27 per cent forward time for the year.

Trac and Butters Mid only. HH Def only.

The forward line is going to suck next year lol.
good.
less obvious picks means people will be forced to select from a large group of 450k-ish players.
we may even see some variety in choices

Forward line going back to what it was a few years, the experimental line.

I remember the year Trac popped off, there was a heap of players around the $400k-$450k mark, and a lot of them went nuts.

there has been few over the years that have "popped" - Beams and Danger two notable ones

Dusty FWD only and Bolton retaining DPP, probably sends them up the list too.

2024 FWD line:
Macrae, Bolton, Sheldrick, Windhager, LRyan, TLynch (rookie, rookie)

Trac and Butters Mid only. HH Def only.

The forward line is going to suck next year lol.
Macrae will be a likely F1.

Jackson with the only RF DPP likely to be F2

F3 will be players like Moore, Jezza, Heeney, NMartin, TT and Flanders. Risky but with high ceilings.

F4 probably Tom Lynch with F5 and F6 being rookies.

R1 and R2 hopefully back to set and forget.

Gawnglish? Englawn?

Just hope Grundy gets traded 🙏
Grundy at Port would be too easy.

LOL!

OK I concede, forward line will be rough. Better hope we get a few rookies.

Bolton is a frustrating own, don't think I want to go there. Ups and down will annoy. Will average 100, but a 60 after back to back 120s would piss you off.

Owens, Bazlenka and Flanders appeal as prospective picks.
