Does anyone else get annoyed with the lack of pre season updates from the club?
The social media output compared to other clubs is a disgrace.

I am no longer on Twitter, but there are some clubs posting on Threads....but not us.

We've posted a fair bit on Instagram and Twitter (only have instagram for my photography these days), with the same content. In the past week, we've shared the below - specifically concerning our AFL team's Pre-season content:

I'm old enough to know that pre-season updates consist of "Yeah, we're really training the house down, taking it one session at a time until round one. Everyone's raring to go!'

It's a bit of theatre. You get proof the players are still alive, but little beyond that!

There's merit in this, but they can't really win either.

If we're putting out puff piece articles left and right, so and so is training the house down and all that, then we're all just going to say "I'll believe it when I see it".

Essendon & Carlton are a perfect case study on what not to do in this respect.

November-March premiers in most of the last 15 years. Constant chatter about how this year will be different, player x is about to breakout, and by mid May it's business as usual (E.g crisis)

So much so, that's it's become a running joke in footy media, and the likes of Kane Cornes have called them out to shut up and just prove it with good football.

I don't mind our approach. Words mean nothing anyway, I want to see actions during the season.

We can make our own judgements too. The likes of Knevitt, Bruhn, Mullin & Willis look ripped and clearly are taking the off-season seriously.

That sort of thing means more to me than words of that affect.

Those two outcomes are not mutually compatible
I reckon if we still had Blighty on board that might be different.

Full of strange ideas that guy. Could totally see him drinking dirty water to build up his immune system to combat a Geelong winter.

Doesn't matter if the science doesn't line up, it was the principal for him.

Another couple released today - Ollie is looking bigger, Bowes is looking chiselled, and Tanner looking bigger too. Also a Geelong travel ad to lure back Sel :tearsofjoy:

Noticed this too, Bowes looks really fit.

Never looked tubby, but he looks noticeably leaner and chiseled through the face and shoulders/arms.

Gearing up for a big season running through the midfield maybe?

Yeah, there's limits though. Drinking water from the Ganges to build up an immune system would be like trying to build up a resistance to 303 calibre projectiles by getting shot several times with a 22

I was dared by my mates to drink out of the ganges through a lifestraw (used on a nepal hike the week before). Didn't do it. Showed how much I trusted the life straw I guess... and how caring my mates were haha

I'm not too worried about news coming out prior to the new year, as majority of articles published this time of year are not much more than puff pieces

The other factor at play over recent times is that our AFLW season only finished 2 weekends back and their B&F is Saturday night - the club has given more focus and attention to the gals over recent tuimes, compared with a puff piece about Dempsey (or whoever) winning our first time trial or running session

I'm more interested and keen to see updates from mid-Jan onwards as we start approaching practice match or match sim time

I think "hulking" is a bit unkind: how about Big Chap?
Plus Hawkins is not inclined to throw his weight around, he uses his strength in one on one contests and in ruck contests. Tony Lockett used his weight by crashing into opponents and smashing packs.

Pre-Chrissy pre-season is just fitness and skills
Post-Chrissy pre-season is game training and drills
Then we will see how the game plan has evolved
Who will play where and the new kids involved
Reports on improvement in their size and desire.
Who is looking good and setting the place on fire.
