Can tell how jealous you are of the new badges

Meh.

Badges and caps are so passé.

The kids who didn't get a game last year didn't deserve one. They were barely putting up average performances in the VFL let alone playing well enough to warrant being promoted to the AFL side. The ones who did perform got promoted and played a significant amount in the seniors.

The experience they got playing finals and playing in those must win games late in the season will be invaluable to any future success we have. Winning and playing in big games is what we need as a club.

There were plenty of times that some of the ones playing were very low output and we persisted through quiet patches and now have a heap of development into a heap of kids. Got Nas over 40 games, 30 for Owens, 24 into Pou, Sharman is over 30 games now, Hammer 18, 48 for Byrnes, 51 for Stocker, 37 for Windhager.

If we improve in the near future it's because of that. Not playing guys that are already okay but limited. Wilson types are looking ready to take a spot and put pressure on existing guys to hold on. To me that's good.

Could be interesting for Lyon this season re team selection. To go another step, we need to keep the best team on the field for the best part of the season- as much as possible, and that's how you get deep into September finals. Any senior player with an injury history may struggle to get a regular gig in the seniors- especially the running ball carriers. I still see the midfield as our big problem, more the lack of class than lack of workrate, and Lyon may need get creative in that area.

A lot will come down to Steele staying fit and Crouch repeating his 2023. Ross is probably at the cross roads and replaceable by Dow and then maybe Henry as a bit of pace. Perhaps even a guy like Byrnes could get a run on ball. If we could free Sinclair with someone else filling in the HBF it could also work.

What do we think of this team by foxsports, lads?

Personally, would rather see Collard over Byrnes because that forward line lacks a lot of speed, and Dow over Ross but doubt Ross gets dropped by RTB. Dougs for Cordy as well.

They haven't named someone specifically for Butler's role, which is important. And I think Howard plays ahead of Cordy to start off. Stocker over Webster in the 18 for me. Other than that, it's pretty close to the mark.
