We just don’t get looked after like others….

The Essington fans near me were ropable with the umpires and Bronx-cheering when they got a free kick… at the time Free Kicks were 19-12 in their favour. Those poor, brave Bombers, when will something go their way?

Commentators keep saying Williams plays the Jack Martin role but I think he's playing the small forward role really well.

He's been a game changer up forward.

100% agree.

I think Williams has taken Motlop’s role.

EH has taken much of Jack’s role and also fills in for Cerra at CB’s.

When Cerra comes back I think EH will spend more time forward - EH can take a grab and also beat oppo on the ground.

I watched the Fox interview with Weiters and I assume they were sucking up to him

I feel watching the game that we are getting no where near the sort of defensive intercept marks we need, (the lack of scoring from * last night might just have been anomoly)

Maybe it’s why we ended up with so many opposition entries

We seemed to defend okay (bring ball to ground), it’s just other teams defensive bigs are better at peeling off and getting intercept marks
I watch the game and see indecision on when to intercept from any

Good win - but lots to work on
I really do wonder if it's confirmation bias on my end sometimes, how frustrated I get with players going up against each other, slipping over, neglecting to play the percentages and get the ball over the boundary. I wonder if we see the excellent play from our opposition and others, but when our own makes a mistake that statistically is an anomoly - and it has to be. Gov is considered an excellent intercept defender and so is Kemp. Boyd bats above his height here as well, so does Saad - it makes me grind my teeth.

I dunno. Last night was as... professional a win as we've had in 2 seasons. Job done, no-one played out of their skins except TDK, and we won by just under 5 goals.

I've decided I'm going into our games for the rest of the season with an attitude of, "I dunno, man!" It means I get excited when we do well, I don't drop like a stone from orbit when we lose.

They weren't easybeats. This was a top 4 versus a 10th-5th side in decent knick. It was apparently extremely slick last night.

Learnings (and once again, don’t you love learnings from wins?):

1. Class in the forward half is transformative. The extra second and deft touch of Zilliams and Hollands is so valuable. More more MORE.
2. A bonafide small forward crumber would kick 40 goals in our side. Oppositions sweep it away with monotonous regularity when the big fellas don’t mark it because it feels like 90% of the time it falls to where a great small forward would be and there’s no one there.
3. The midfield group as a whole is too slow, can’t get up and back. Someone probably has to go to change the mix, or we will get exposed at the pointy end. It’s not that any of Cripps, Hewett, Kennedy, Acres, Hollands, etc aren’t good enough to contribute, but as a group there’s no speed.
4. I’ve been a huge Nic Newman fan but when we get bogged down coincides with when he’s getting too much of the ball in the back half. He’s not blessed with foot speed and as he tires his kicks get more and more like 9 irons to nowhere. Not all his fault, but the more dynamic options we can develop back there the better. Would like to see Boyd used more prominently.

I think we’re top 4, and should fancy our chances against anyone (for now, except Sydney who are miles in front). From a List Mgt, trade target, Free Agent point of view, I think targets should be clear - pace and kicking skills. One each in each third of the ground and we’d be “complete”.
I'd like to see how tue swans fare at g against us dees pies and cats.

I want to highlight 2 things Vossy has done/said in the last week that I think shows the sign of a very good coach.

First one was the prank call to Ben & Harry podcast. I think this was a master stroke and very intentional. What it no doubt did was take a lot of the stress out of the game for our boys, help them relax and have a bit of a laugh but subtlety reinforce a desire to win.

The second was in the post match presser tonight where he said that if you want to beat us you have to play 4 Qtrs. That is positive reinforcement and confidence building, but at the same time subtly setting an expectation for or level of effort.

I’ve no doubt he’s the right coach for us. A great balance between, premiership experience, a hard edge driven by high standards, but still able to have fun with the boys.
Vossy is showing some really great signs that he has learnt a lot since his first go round as a senior coach where he went to far the other way and was too strict. I was against getting him the first time he went for the Carlton job. But now... he's perfect for it.

I think right now they’re playing significantly better than anyone else and are deservedly flag favourites. But yes, they’re more gettable down here. That, and flags are not awarded in June. They run the risk of playing too well, too early.

Which was bs.. we led contested, marks, intercepts etc. They were the most bias * following commentary ever. Jobe sounded like he was going to cry.... blah blah "all * have to do is this and this and this and they'll get back into it". No awareness how bad we were playing to still dominate them for 3 of 4 quarters.

Not to mention the stutter rap. Can he actually get a sentence out properly? Ever? I have my doubts.

Wow our coaching. Voss and co on fire. They have really taught them how to transition the ball now.

Some of the moves. Cowan wouldn’t have occurred to me for Martin. Superb. Cinc cemented his role in the side forever. E Hollands Centre forward is just top shelf. Williams forward is amazing. He just hangs around Charlie and waits for him to be double teamed and feasts on it. Love having Fog in the side.

I have it at EIGHT games we have pressed the button when needed. Has me wondering whether they conserve energy a bit. 3/4 time I thought “wonder if we will do it again” and they just went smash. 4 in a row. Game over.

We don’t look slow any more. Pitto can’t play in this side while Tom is fit. I do see him getting a game or two to rest Tom later.

Hope McG is ok. He and Saad set our transition up.
On Williams is playing like a proper crumbing small forward. Right at the feet of the big blokes either behind or in front dependent on where the balls coming in from stays down and reads it nicely.

O. Hollands is an interesting one. Only the 10 touches but felt like he was involved in some key contests and of course runs all day. He definitely had the fight and intensity in his game that he had last year where he punches above his weight, so that's something.
He does a lot of things that don’t appear on a stat sheet. He’s an incredible athlete and competitor

Sometimes putting players in a position to just hunt the ball absolutely makes them. DeKoning into the middle. Williams up forward. Even Cincotta at times gets himself in a position quite a bit to just go the ball, even though he is playing a negative role, he's still a forward and that shows. Builds confidence and gets the player into the game.

I'm waiting for a similar thing to happen with Durdin, I know why we gave him a big contract, he's got a lot of talent, just needs some confidence and motivation.
