Really tossing up what to do with my backline, around 5k short of Gibcus > Mass so weighing up my options...
Option 1: Hold Gibcus and Z Reid and see which defensive rookies perform the best this week.
Option 2: Gibcus > Hore - a week early but can see this move happening anyway

Think I will then have to find a way to bring in Mass next week but I'll worry about that then.
I have Howes, Coffield and Zac Williams and have no DPPs to move around.
Suggestions appreciated.

Very hard to give advice with out seeing your side before trades and money in bank .

I’ve gone Gibcus to Hore.

Probably have to get rid of the following either this week or next:

Gibcus
ZReid
Clark
Mannagh

And would like to jump on the following to generate some more $...

T Berry
Sharp
Hore

Whilst watching...

Carroll
Dempsey
Answerth

Have 250k spare up my sleeve so plenty to work with. Any thoughts on the best move this week?

Berry has to be the priority given he's on the bubble. But how do I approach the 2nd trade, with an eye to making a couple more next week?

As I said, he won’t play the non existent pressure of the Bulldogs every week.
Another important factor for any potential Billings investors, while he looked really good at the weekend, there are only x points to go around.

The Dees have several players who can pull big scores on the regular (Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, Viney, May, Salem just off the top of my head) and then you have the opposition stars to factor in, if these guys fire, there simply may not be enough of the pie left for anyone else to spike

I am aware Billings did this with these guys at the weekend but something to consider that he may play well and not see a score like he got against the Dogs again. He could realistically play serviceable to well and only churn out a 70 if the Dees are firing.

From an initial cash gen point of view a really good option but don't be surprised if it isn't as lucrative as T. Berry even if the points is a little higher.

Ohhh Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Totally slipped my mind

Now i am so confused , Now i want to do 0 trades this week and ask the supercoah people if i can use 5 next week
That’s the conundrum for us Gibcus and Reid owners.Do we deal with that early knowing we likely need McKercher/Dempsey types next week.

Feel like you can maybe get away with ignoring Reid if you are getting the other rookies fixed up for cash gen. Hopefully a couple of Defence rookies put their hands up (Hore & Pink the first chances, Hore could be a go, less confident in Pink)

a

Sanders > Cadman (Wilson to mids)
Fisher > Heeney
No need to worry about defenders this week as only best 18 count. Next week grab the best 124k rookie for Gibcus, and, depending how D'Ambrosio goes, you may want to swap Zilliams for D'Ambrosio.
Reid's not required so wait for a promising cheapie, hopefully on the bubble.
I think you’ll regret trading Sanders.

I've settled on two trades.

Jhye Clark > McKercher. Not picking McKercher in the first place was a mistake - I see that now. If his handball is s**t and disadvantages his teammate, they just give it back to him and give him another go. His coach and fellow players clearly want him to be successful. He's a required player I feel and I'm not waiting till next week.

James Jordon > Jack Billings. This involves trading Jordon over Fisher, and Elijah Tsatas. But Tsatas scored impressively considering he didn't take the field till after half time and I reckon he earned a spot in the 22. Fisher was bad but has the role and scope for improvement. On the other hand, I feel like we've seen what Jordon actually has to offer and it's not gonna make much dough or be keep-worthy. That makes him the most expendable of the blokes I own in that price bracket.

Billings has a big tasty score that's gonna feature in two price hike calculations, and a record of solid scoring. He's an irresistible cash grab.

Next week I'm prolly gonna grab Massimo and Sharp
Jordon to Billings is very sideways, not sure I’ve ever seen it at the low$200k mark.

I've now solidified after melting hard on Sunday night. My worst start ever in SC by a country mile.

It's time to get this 66k ranked team back on track.
The restructuring begins now.

I'd like to keep Martin and Wines for longer, but I need more firepower up FWD and in DEF. They are both unlikely to be keepers in their positions, and have been replaced by Heeney and Sheezel, both a great chance to be top 6 DEF & FWD.

Also opens up two DPP slots MID/FWD where before I had none. (I know, I know. Shut up!)

Gibcus the obvious out.
Though the extra $80k would be handy, Billings comes in instead of T.Berry for three reasons.
1. I liked Billings game, and he should score more than Terry from here on out, and more consistently. Can't see Jack getting the vest again. Hunter is at least 2 weeks away with that calf injury.
2. I have good cows up FWD already, in Cadman, Sexton, and Wilson.
3. There are rookies I'm looking at next week in Carroll (MID) and Dempsey (FWD) who are cheaper than Terry.

Lazarro and ZWilliams are both on notice.
Dawson and Young will surely be better.

Next week, we go again. Another 3 trades if necessary.
Possibly
Lazarro/Clark > Carroll/Dempsey
ZWilliams/Reid > MD'A/Hore/Pink (Unlikely to trade Zac, but I will do what's necessary)

This is my team ranked 66k.

Any thoughts, encouragement, criticisms, or Double Dutch Rudders behind the shelter sheds are more than welcome.

I don't mind it.

His 104 is in his price cycle for 2 rounds. No other rookie has anything close to that. Every rookie score this week that didn't play R0 has their score for 1 cycle only. No hypotheticals about what he might do, the 62 and 104 are locked in. Also his JS is clearly good.

He's not making a one time 60k, he's making 80k over his next two games even if he drops back to back 40s because of having the 104 there for two rounds. Two 55's and it's 100k. He has another largish score, well, you can figure it out.

It's weird seeing Berry ignored AFAIC, since when it comes to rookies, scores in the cycle along with JS are combined more important than hypotheticals about role and what people think their scoring output might be because of it. Rookies that people project to do well s**t the bed all the time, messing with their cash gen because most have zero history at AFL level or are too early in their development cycle to accurately predict.

People trading rookies in that aren't on the bubble at all is much weirder from a historical SC trading principal, than getting a bubble rook with a -75 BE.
Great post. But there's other factors at play. Lots have to choose between rookies. It's never black and white.

I think I have to choose between TBerry and Billings and I'm leaning Billings because of the role and the bye. Also have Cadman and Sexton with the same bye. Kerch and Dempsey look good too, but can decide next week (again, will likely have to choose one).

Billings had 10 score involvements on the weekend. He played a really good game. People just hate on Billings for some reason, probably because he was taken ahead of Bont and his set shot kicking is putrid.

F*** it, I'll bite the bullet and make 2 Trades for the round:

Fisher > Billings
Lazzaro > T Berry
(+ $153K)

I'm looking to correct some decisions I wasn't entirely sure about heading into the season. Realistically I need to free up some cash with the scarcity of promising DEF rookies, and Zac Fisher was always a gamble (that might still pay off to the keepers), but I can't afford to run the early season with only $16k with both Gibcus & Reid injured. Sadly, Hore isn't exactly the tastiest of prospects & I don't expect Coffield to average much higher than 55 until he peaks (unless he's dropped first). Additionally, Lazzaro was another player I was VERY unsure about, and after watching his game on the weekend, I doubt he'll generate enough value for his price point over other options.

I had Billing in my team until he was announced as the Sub in round 0, and he has a solid record of scoring well, so I'm comfortable taking a risk on him to pocket $130K+ for future trades. Tom Berry on the other hand has a delicious BE, great JS moving forwards, and is exactly the type of player that Harwick cracks a swollen chol over, it's a pretty easy decision to bring him in IMO.

Personally, I don't think it's worth burning a trade boost in round 1, considering most of the players aren't even on the bubble yet, plenty of time for the cows to grow. At least this weird schedule gives us another week to observe viable replacements for our injured defensive rookies. Hopefully Clark and Martin start picking up their production this round, I'd hate to trade them out this early.
