It’s just bullshit. AFL announce gather round and 3 star hotels in the city are suddenly $800 a night and flights go up to $500 return. Then there’s ticket costs, food etc. I’d love to go and experience gather round, but it’s literally cheaper to go to Thailand for 7 nights, and that’s for TWO people. AFL should do reasonably priced deals for the average punter.

This is the cheapest option available. A shoe box.

Holidaying in Oz is so overrated imo, its just way too expensive when you a short flight away from Asia which is far cheaper, better hotel and usually better weather if you time it right

Agreed. Hotel costs are astronomical. One night in Sydney CBD around $400.

My wife and I priced up taking two kids to Gold Coast theme parks. It was cheaper to spend 10 days in Phuket at a five star Novotel Resort with return flights, so we did that.

Much safer here in Norwood than Mount Barker

My only worry is dodging all the drunks on Sunday at the Food and Wine Festival when I am trying to get into Norwood Oval for the Richmond/St Kilda game.

It really is a hole of a ground and you will be amazed how close the brick wall is to the boundary line on the western side.

But you do feel like you on top of the action especially on Cooper's Hill which is the South Eastern pocket of the ground.
