Have HAW got another gear to go to though ? .....it's maybe a conundrum of having a great season, when you perhaps should have had another early Draft Pick to improve your listHaha, yes my wording was poor. I dislike the Hawks also. But I am very impressed by Mitchell and their quick turnaround and gamestyle this year - envious was probably a better way to say it than 'great to see'
Noise is starting for a F2 in the media.
yep agree with that. they arent likely to win it but sometimes things happen early, ala Bullies in 2016 and indeed Horks themself 'ahead of time' in 2008. But yes they dont seem to have a plethora of absolute elite youngsters but are extracting MAXIMUM output from many 'no name' or cheap pick ups like Ginnivan, Nash, Weddle and D'Ambrosio was a revelation and still excellent output from older players Gunston (with a C), Sicily and Breust. I questioned before the draft last year would Watsons effectiveness translate into AFL with his size and lack of elite pace (to the naked eye) but he is a big upgrade on Rachele in many ways. Incredibly smart and natural footballer as Bicks said he was last year.Have HAW got another gear to go to though ? .....it's maybe a conundrum of having a great season, when you perhaps should have had another early Draft Pick to improve your list
I'm not seeing an GF quality team here with HAW .....
I mean that said, if HAW get both Battle and Barrass ....that'll helpyep agree with that. they arent likely to win it but sometimes things happen early, ala Bullies in 2016 and indeed Horks themself 'ahead of time' in 2008. But you are right WW, they may actually be ultimately costing themself some elite talent in the draft but now instead heading to FA's and trades as their first rounder isnt in the 'elite picking zone'
Have we signed Petracca yet? Sorry, cant keep up
Might be a good time to put a cold spoon on it
If Hawthorn are getting Barrass I'd be shocked if they still went after Battle.I mean that said, if HAW get both Battle and Barrass ....that'll help
It looks like Grainger-Barras may also be a failed #6 for HAW ....just lucky for Vic Clubs, that it's so much easier to lure FA to their teams
Wont happen unfortunately, they are a very well run club. It’s great to see? The Hawks, with a boatload of flags since the 80s, the most smug supporters on earth, coached by Mr Corkie Mitchell, with their supremely annoying players, them winning is great to see?
Freo, fine, be great to see them win. But I hope the Hawks are terrible for 20 years.
Don't worry, they are a young and inexperienced team.Have HAW got another gear to go to though ? .....it's maybe a conundrum of having a great season, when you perhaps should have had another early Draft Pick to improve your list

If the number is approx $1M over the remaining 2 years. Then its $200K/year above what Jack Bowes was reported to be earning in the the final 2 years of his contract. And he was almost exactly the same age.I reckon Lukosius is worth $600K p.a. in salary cap in 2025 and he's worth pick 16-24 (call it 20 at the midpoint) in a trade all else being equal.
However if he has two years to run on a contract that is back-ended to pay him $1m per year (love to know where this rumour started and if there's any truth to it) then effectively he's going to be overpaid by $800K over '25/26.
Therefore a deal would have to involve:
There's obviously no science to how you would convert salary cap into trade value but I reckon $800K would wipe out his entire late 1st round/early 2nd round trade value meaning that it's at best going to cost a token pick late 3rd/4th round pick or maybe even getting into Jack Bowes territory where they need to pay us to take him off their hands.
- him being traded at fair value (#20) but GC picking up the 'excess' on his contract (i.e. $400K p.a.); or
- if they want a salary dump then the buyer (say it's us) takes on his full contract but gets a discount on the trade value to compensate for the extra salary that we're taking on.
Forget Clarry. Why would we want him cooked? The rest we should go for hard. All I’m reading is Luko talk, which is fair.
However, is Clarry/Cumming/Daniel still in the works and do we have any news on them?

If that was the case, and GC were open to it, I'd restructure every contract at the club to make sure we could get himIf the number is approx $1M over the remaining 2 years. So I guess that means it is pick 6 + Luko for a 3rd rounder.
P.s. Now watch Geelong get suddenly interesting in Luko
Avoid daniel imo. Get cumming. Clarry for the right price (but not pick 4), but doubt it happensAll I’m reading is Luko talk, which is fair.

The muppet Tredrea just double down on a good 1st and a 2nd as a starting point for Lukosius and laughed at the report of a F2. I guess he can be a social lepper on this issue.Nearly spat my cup of tea out..Tredrea thinks Lukosius will cost at least a first and a 2nd to get him....lol
Daniel’s a gun and feel like we could get him for basically nothing.Avoid daniel imo. Get cumming. Clarry for the right price (but not pick 4), but doubt it happens
Would Daniel be best 22 for us? I guess he’s better than Murphy but you’d think we’d be better off giving games to the Dowling/Taylor/Cheddar typesDaniel’s a gun and feel like we could get him for basically nothing.
Would love cumming but is the news more so that he’s heading elsewhere?
Would love Clarry for cheap.
Draper, Cumming, Luko and Clarry all this year would be amazing (I’m dreaming I know)

Lol, so a board member of our fiercest rival and other possible suitor for Luko wants us to pay more. I'm shocked. The muppet Tredrea just double down on a good 1st and a 2nd as a starting point for Lukosius and laughed at the report of a F2. I guess he can be a social lepper on this issue.
They're spending a fortune of cash on Barrass already - you think they'll do that for Battle as well? Why won't they go after Battle? They have to trade for Barrass but they only need to offer a carload of cash for Battle and St Kilda would be most willing to let him go if they got pick 5 in this draft as compo (assuming they got pick 4 naturally).
The Hawks can absolutely get both this trade period
