My gut feel is we may try and trade with a team like Freo who have multiple 1sts and split our pick for 2. So 4 for 13 + 15, 1 goes to Melbourne for Petty and the either for Welsh or for another player to bring in via trade (and we trade a few fringe guys for later picks to bundle together for Welsh).
Why did you have to post that..that is one of the worst outcomes i could think if we end up with a top 5 pick and there are some top quality mids there at that pick. That sort of stuff that you posted fills me with dread on what they could try come trade time, not that the necessarily will, but its a possibility as they have made noise about trading in players.

Forget the bargain bin he's played forward way way way more than ruck coming through the pathways...do we need another tall forward now we've taken Toby Murray on board.

Enough of sorting through the bargain bin, that's what's landed us with ROB and Strachan, both acceptable but not top end AFL rucks, if we truly want a topline ruck we either trade or draft one.
Well we sure as shit can't develop one

Would be a disaster
I'm not a fan of it, but they've made it pretty clear they want to make the list more experienced and don't see the draft as a major priority in the short term currently.

You can probably guarantee that Nicks is telling the higher ups he needs more experienced players in to execute his gameplan, and it's not his fault because he's been given a group of kids who can't do the job.

That's part of why he's been so insistent on using as few players as possible and not rotating younger guys into the midfield as much.

One thing I trust Reid with is getting decent value out of pick trades

I have faith we wouldn’t do a deal as lopsided against us as that

Pure points wise we come out ahead 290 points with that trade (equivalent of pick 49).
We’d want to come out a lot better than that

We traded pick 4 for pick 6 and a future first back in the day (not that we used pick 6 well, but on pure pick value we can do a lot better)

I'd rather not draft Welsh at all if it means we miss out on a top five pick for a mid.

If the club in any way trades our first rounder for Harrison Petty then I’m out.

Top line midfielder, preferably Draper is the only option

A few………they can have 10

That’s horrific

Interesting intel today, players are still mostly behind Nicks, but Scott Burns is disliked immensely

Forwards can’t stand him, there’s been a directive to not be selfish and pass off more even inside 50 after the Collingwood game.
went back and watched snippets from last week and it’s actually evident
Fogarty passed off what he’d normally go back and slot , Rachele too

Burns could be the fall guy if Nicks survives after this season it seems

If that’s the case Nicks can overrule that

A little controversial, but if you're in the physical shape of Dew or Burns, it's a sign you're not a good coach.

Burns should never have been assigned our forward coach role
Full stop

I don't really care if the players like Nicks. We don't perform, have bad selection strategies and game plan that's on him AND his coaching crew.

Don't agree with that. It comes down to your game plan, selection integrity, buy in from players, motivational ability and management of club approach that counts.

Dean Cox isn't exactly a fit man but I think he'd be good.
