Danger is full training will be available for Sydney game but might be held back to after the bye
Do not like. No longer have the luxury to hold players over.
If he's fit and held back we get pumped in Sydney.

When was the last time a player passed their test first week? It feels like every time a player is a test they're out for 1 more week. So I'd put a line through Stanley and Rohan.

The Club have said they expect Rohan to play this week

“Gaz has been training well so far this week, he will fully train tomorrow (Wednesday) and expect him to be available this weekend,” Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager of Football Brett Johnson said.

Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield is a chance to return for next week’s meeting with ladder leader Sydney as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The 34-year-old hasn’t played since he was subbed out during Geelong’s Round 7 win over Carlton after re-injuring the hamstring that kept him out for a month earlier in the season.

Patrick Dangerfield and Ollie Henry will both be a test this week as Geelong Cats prepare to take on Sydney at the SCG on Sunday.

Dangerfield (hamstring) is striving for a return to play his first game since Round 7, having put together a solid body of work on the track in recent weeks, while Ollie Henry was substituted out of Saturday’s game against Richmond with hamstring awareness.

“Both are tracking pretty well, Dangerfield has been training with the team for close to two weeks now, so he’ll be a test later this week,” Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager of Football Brett Johnson said.

“Ollie was subbed off during the game on the weekend with some hamstring awareness. His function was slightly limited during the game which was the reason for subbing him out, therefore he’ll be a test to play this week as well.”

First-year Cat Mitch Edwards is available for selection for the first time this year, having worked through his rehab program from a back injury that delayed his start to the season.

“It’s fantastic news for Mitch, he’s an exciting talent and we look forward to seeing him play this weekend,” Johnson said.

“He’s done everything that’s required in terms of his rehab: he’s been really professional and I know the staff have enjoyed working with him as well, so we’re looking forward to seeing him out there in the Hoops.”

Rhys Stanley, Jed Bews and Joe Furphy all returned via the VFL, with Furphy playing his first game for the Cats.

“It was great to see Rhys, Jed and Joe Furphy play VFL footy last weekend, the VFL team performed strongly again and are having a really good season,” Johnson said.

“All those guys got through and are looking to play again this weekend.”

Cameron Guthrie remains a week away as he continues to work through his rehabilitation program for an achilles complaint.

“Cam is tracking well; he’s had a minor flare up with his achilles post game in Darwin, and he is still a week away. With the bye after the Sydney game, we anticipate Cam being available,” Johnson said.

Oli Wiltshire is looking at a month on the sidelines as he works through a pelvis issue.

“Oli has had a bit of a setback; he originally had the thumb issue which kept him out from playing early, and since then, he’s had some issues with his pelvis ongoing,” Johnson said.

“He hasn’t been quite able to get on top of it, and it just requires a bigger block of conditioning and pelvic stability work to set him up for success in the back half of the year.”

Geelong takes on ladder-leaders Sydney this Sunday at the SCG. First bounce is at 3.20pm AEST, with the match to be broadcast on Fox Footy and streamed through Kayo. You can listen to all the coverage via K rock Football.

Patrick Dangerfield and Ollie Henry are set to be available for selection as the Cats prepare to take on Carlton this Friday night at the MCG.

Dangerfield’s is set to return for his first game since Round Seven, having overcome a hamstring injury.

Ollie Henry will also be available, with the forward missing the trip to Sydney after being subbed out of the game against Richmond with hamstring awareness.

Cameron Guthrie is two weeks away from a return as he continues to recover from an achilles issue, while Oli Wiltshire is making progress as he works his way back from a pelvis injury.

“Cameron is progressing well in his recovery, over the next two weeks he will begin to increase his footy loads and conditioning as he nears his return,” Johnson said.

After missing the clash against Sydney, Zach Tuohy (knee) and Toby Conway (hip) are both available for selection.

In further positive news, Mitch Edwards made a successful return from injury in the VFL clash against the Swans two weeks ago, collecting 10 disposals and 11 hit-outs in three quarters of action.

The Cats will battle the Blues on Friday night at the MCG, with the opening bounce at 7.40pm. The game will be broadcast live on channel Seven, streamed via Kayo or you can listen on K rock Football.

I think we need some more detail on how young Blade copped a thumb injury that somehow turned into a pelvis injury.....

... on second thought Maybe I don't want to know

So Ted Clohesy or Mitch Knevitt must be in the mix with Tanner being OUT.
On the ropes with a bare cupboard of quality mids to bring in.
Cam Guthrie being out for another fortnight came at the wrong time. Again.
Ahh well let's see what we deliver and go from there.
Bring on Friday night at the G.

Scaphoid is wrist, for those wondering.
very small and poorly vascularised bone in wrist that bc of low blood supply can take longer to heal

FFS

Go Catters

This may be a silly question, but is this the type of fracture where healing can be assisted with surgery or is this all about time?

It's looks very similar to where I broke my right wrist in yr12 (funnily enough playing footy at school 😂), and back then it was set in a cast and given 6 weeks - wondering if things have changed

I know a lot will hate reading this, but I think Hardie is the most like-for-like replacement for Bruhn. Ted is more of a defensive mid, and Knevitt is more of a wingman (even though he has been playing mid in the VFL). Though, MC usually doesn't do like-for-like swaps, they will usually bring in the next best player and just shuffle the magnets.

Might very well be Hardie’s opportunity

Can be both, and can become very problematic.

As Daz said, it can take a long time to heal, but can deteriorate quickly too.
