Sounds like they're banking on that new volleyballer cross sporter. Theres also nearly no quality rucks available in the draft and near impossible to trade for a quality one

Darcy wasn’t going to move the needle much for the team. A ruck and a KPD would. Can be the difference of a team fighting for a finals spot, and a team fighting for the flag.
I’d be happy to trade all our draft picks to bring those types in. We have enough young talent to not be a major player in this year’s draft.

The Cats have received pick 22 in exchange for Moloney, with the Club now holding picks 9, 22, 27, 45 in next month’s AFLW Draft.


After the "MEGA TRADE"
We have picks 9, 16 & 37


Don't mind that trade by us as we've traded up to a second first round pick & bettered our third round pick - wonder if we may use any of those improved picks in a trade for an established player (ruck or KPD)

I like tipping but you need more than just her you can't bank on that. There's not great rucks in this draft but I would like to see us trade hard for a decent one.

100% - even if MegMac plays on, need to start developing her successor. The ruck situation is absolutely dire, but as been discussed, may not be many options draft-wise (and anyway, they would take a couple of years to get up to speed at least).

This is a good read about the mechanisms behind train on & top up players - "retiring" players nominating for the upcoming draft isn't necessarily about them finding a new home now but rather being available next year if a team gets in contact with them
