KANGAS HIT DANIEL ROADBLOCK

NORTH Melbourne has held preliminary discussions with the Western Bulldogs around the potential of a Caleb Daniel trade, though the Kangas believe a move for the contracted defender remains unlikely.

Daniel is reluctant to officially request a trade to Arden Street unless a suitable agreement can be reached between the two clubs, but has interest in getting to North Melbourne by Wednesday night's deadline.

However, the Kangaroos have said their initial chats with Bulldogs officials "didn't get far" and reiterated their belief that Daniel – who is contracted through until 2026 – would be retained at the Whitten Oval.

Speaking to AFL.com.au's Gettable on Friday, North Melbourne list manager Brady Rawlings said the Bulldogs hadn't yet given the Kangas an indication of what they would accept for Daniel in a trade.

"Not sure on that one," Rawlings said of a potential Daniel deal.

"We certainly have interest. (But) he's a contracted player and he's contracted for another couple of years.

"I've had a chat with the Dogs and it doesn't seem like they have much appetite at all to trade him out. We'll keep in touch, but at the end of the day he's contracted for two more years and the Dogs want to keep him." – Riley Beveridge

John Noble is shit. Wtf is going on.

The balls on Collingwood.
i know - I can't beleive they are using John friggen Noble to try and unlock players like Humphrey.....

What this trade period has shown thus far is the days of the contracted player requesting a move and it just happening are long gone. Obviously Clubs are sick of being pushed around and accepting unders for their stock.

Probably is a logical re-balance.

It makes it much harder for the bottom sides to improve when the best kid goes to the premier.
Every year we’ve been down the bottom the top picks have been heavily compromised with f/s and academy picks aside from the JHF pick.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was only the odd occurrence but the fact it is more often than not is why it’s a problem.

May be a very late deal if it happens. Depends on Houston too, because it looks like we’ve upped our offer.

He is saying, he wants to be traded but doesn’t want to openly say it?

It all reads to me like manager advice. Dogs are focused on the Macrae and Smith deals. These smaller deals are way easier to get done on the last day. There's also the prospect mentioned he is already clawing his way back into the side, if he demands a trade and doesn't get one it's a really bad work environment. Things are a lot easier when they are out of contract.

Everyone still playing it with a straight bat but the urgency will kick in come Tuesday/Wednesday if it is ever to be.

In my view, if we are the laughing stock of the AFL, it is 100% NMFC’s fault because of football-related decisions we have made in the past - nothing more. Our “wokeness” has absolutely nothing to do with it - in my view. In fact, the only success we have achieved recently is our AFLW team. I suppose the AFLW could be attributed to “wokeness”. I’m sure not sending children up chimneys would have been considered woke back in the day. Times change.

Because Dogs have probably told him he's a required player and won't be traded.
He was out of the team this year and was on the out. This was public knowledge by like round 8?
Same with Parker.
Parker has at least said he wants to go to North.

He is ‘reluctant to officially request a trade, unless a suitable agreement can be made…but has interest on getting to North by Wednesday night’ what the hell is that? Come out and say it. It reads very much like self-preservation even though we all know where he stands

Luke Parker broke his arm and was suspended for 6 games for a VFL incident. As soon as he could get back he never left the side to a grand final.

Daniel played 16 games for the year, 7 as tactical sub. He finished the season including a final in their best 22.

Not sure why we don't have any interest in Kennedy as a big bodied, defensive mid? I know we're after Parker but I personally see Parker as being more of a fwd/ mid.

A future 3rd rounder would probably get this done I would think.

Edit: The fact The Nostradamus thumbs downed this within about 0.1 seconds after I posted, makes the idea even more attractive!

Wish our list management team had the conviction of the hawks guys. Instead of just rolling over and playing nice..
Yep, trade out 25 and 44 asap.

I reckon we normally do our trades in the first couple of days and then watch other sweet deals happen when our chips are spent. I don’t mind that they’re taking their time, but if the choice is give up 44 or miss out on Parker I want Parker.
