Brady: Hi GC, that pick 13 is mighty pretty, would be a shame if we bid pick 2 on Lombard. :wink wink
AFL Integrity unit: Hi Brady, you know you can't have pretty things, would be a real shame if a club tried to coerce another club for draft picks and we had to fine that club substantially as well as giving that club two years out of the draft, now would you like sugar with your tea? :sneaky:

THE WESTERN Bulldogs have increased its offer to Riley Garcia as they look to retain the West Australian amid rival interest.

Garcia now has a three-year contract in front of him and is expected to remain at the Whitten Oval after assessing his options in recent months.

Port Adelaide had expressed interest in Garcia, but have now landed a commitment from Collingwood small forward Joe Richards.
West Coast, St Kilda and North Melbourne are among the other clubs who have all had varying levels of interest in Garcia.

Move onto his brother Andy.

LIAM Shiels will remain at Arden Street and join North Melbourne's recruiting department full-time next month.

The 33-year-old retired in August after adding 33 appearances for the Kangaroos across two seasons, after Alastair Clarkson lured him out of retirement in 2022.
Shiels ended his playing career with 288 games next to his name after playing in three premierships at Hawthorn during his 14 seasons at Waverley Park.

The Victorian has spent time working in recruiting across his first two years at the Kangaroos and was spotted at the Telstra AFL Draft Combine over the weekend.

Shiels was hoping to transition into the list management department when he took up the opportunity to extend his AFL career at North Melbourne.

Now the 2008 pick No.34 will join nation recruiting manager Will Thursfield and head of football talent Brady Rawlings on a full-time basis ahead of next month's Telstra AFL Draft.

North Melbourne holds pick No.2, 25, 43 and 61 after trading 67 to West Coast on the opening day of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period to land veteran key forward Jack Darling.

Shiels becomes the latest player to enter the recruiting space after Brisbane great Justin Leppitsch transitioned from coaching to list manager at Collingwood this year.

Hawthorn appointed four-time premiership great Jarryd Roughead as player acquisition manager at the start of the year.

Oh thank god, he can do the media interviews. Everyone relax.

It isn't a lot to ask that the people the club puts in front a camera are able to communicate well in front of it. It is not like Rawlings is flying solo, there would be a number of people there.

If he is that uncomfortable the club would be doing him a favour as well getting someone else to do it.

Clearly you watched a different interview to what I watched. He was perfectly okay as far as I was concerned. Did you watch any other of the recruiters?

From what I saw, they were all pretty much on a par. None of them are paid to speak articulately and be the guest speaker at an Awards night or something. Rather they are paid to get the best possible recruiting outcomes for their clubs. (Whether or not they achieve that is a very different discussion.)

“in a period of 11 games this year he took 2 contested marks”

Lets add him to the same forward line as Nick Larkey, opposition teams are shaking in fear…

Did they mention that he averaged as many as larkey across the season?

Or that he averaged basically double that of pink?

Surely they gave context?

He was also top 20 in the league for i50 tackles but don’t get facts get in the way of a good story
Any chance for them to kick North while we're down, they'll do it.

Did they also do any stats on how many times he was target i50 (as opposed to Waterman or Allen) and how many contests he lost? And how those stats compare to competition averages?

Or did they just cherry pick the data to suit their 'poor boys of the AFL' storyline?

Why is pick 13 highly soughted in comparison to other picks . It’s fk n hilarious how the corrupted AFL media works
because it is gettable and gc will 100% trade it to avoid the lombard bid before it

would be great if they were super keen on someone in this draft at the top that we could split with for it

Late in the season, the Eagles won 2 games in a 4 game stretch where they only averaged 45 inside 50s.

In one of those wins Darling got 22 possessions, 9 marks, 7 tackles, 5 inside 50s and kicked 1.1. Cherry picking is easy.

I agree just repeating what he said... 43 is more than enough....

Plus we gave them a good pick for that shittruck Stephens last year.

Stop posturing and do the deal Swines.

He has given you great service and asked to move. No need to be a pig about it.
