Their list is the oldest in the comp. Pendles, Sidey, Howe, Elliot, WHE, Mitchell, Cox, Crisp are all best 22 that still contribute and they would all be on very reasonable deals i imagin. The players who would be or will be on big money are most likely JDG, Moore, Daicos x 2, Quaynor, Hill and possibly Maynard. They could definitely fit in Houston and Perryman, especially with Noble going out. Mcstay was brought in on a very reasonable deal and players like Lipinksi, Cameron and Frampton were discards from other clubs on cheap deals.
Its not Collingwoods books that raise eyebrows.. Its Carltons and Geelongs

Not bad, but when Brady was asked by Cal about moving back, he winced and said "yeah look, maybe three or four spots, not too far and the deal would have to be good. So pick 6 is the magical number, we do not want to move any further down the order than that.
To be fair tho, he wasn’t responding to questions about Houston.

Downgrading pick 2 to pick 10 for Houston is considerably less costly than offering an f1. It values him at roughly pick 15.

Not suggesting we are considering this approach, but it’s one of the most equitable deals I’ve seen floating around.

If we get Houston I suspect we would, or should in preference to trading out our F1 at a discount. But who knows, maybe there is someone we really want likely to be there at 6 but not 10.

We look silly once again failing to get talent, losing with a much lower financial offer with better picks. Going to have to pay overs for Caleb Daniel and Parker, and it's obvious Clarko and co are unable to attract top end talent to the club. Going to be another year of draft picks and some fringe blokes if we don't get act together
(a) we haven't failed anything and (b) in relation to 'better picks', you're overlooking the fact that Collingwood are in an objectively better place because they can include players in their offer that are in demand from the other negotiating clubs, Noble by Gold Coast and Richards by Port.

Gold Coast have amazing production line via Academy - draft currency isn't as valuable to them for acquiring 18 year old talent.

Its better deployed acquiring seasoned talent, which comes at a premium.

Tldr if you had a golden goose laying solid 24 carat eggs in the backyard, you'd piss your pay away too.

Indeed, why would Gold Coast give a hoot about draft picks in the main draft when they've got an unregulated pipeline of academy players
Problem in a nutshell. And the afl deliberately set it up that way. GWS’ academy done was only reduced because they were actually fairly competent in using their non-academy picks on top of their academy picks.

Nostra, you were doing so well, first poor post of the trade period.
It’s not that bad a suggestion.

Pick 2 for Pick 9 and a Pick next year that could be anywhere from 9-18.

If you were able to get a deal like the Houston one done using that future first from the Bombers it looks like a great trade.

Essentially Pick 2 for Pick 9 and Houston. Pick 2 just isn’t as valuable this year with such an even spread across the top end of the draft. Also if we hold 2 you would think we are committing to another midfielder?

If it’s the Bombers wanting Pick 2, it’s to get ahead of a Kako bid, so you would be asking for a premium from them, so maybe some pick swaps to get more our way?
