Cooper Harvey is a bust, why can’t we work that out. There again on name. Surely the draft would have been the way to go to bring in young talent rather than kick the can with Harvey again. Rawlings will be gone by the end of 2025
You do know he's been on the list for 2 years? Every club gives its young players a couple of years to develop, especially those drafted later. Give him his three years and then make the decision.

I find it staggering that we currently have 36 contracted players and will need to delist and then re-draft a contracted player in the rookie draft (CCJ the obvious candidate).
We haven’t officially announced cooper yet which makes me think we will promise to take him rookie draft instead

Or my guy brady gets rid of pink and caps off a brilliant offseason

Given he signed off on the 2nd year trigger I think it would be a poor look to effectively welch on it.

Well, with our level of performance over the last five seasons, finding guys to delist is almost impossible.

Easy solution.

Pay out Stephenson and free up the spot he’s wasting. The list spot is far more valuable than the money that is owed to him and the input he’ll provide over the next 12 months.

Much rather pay out CCJ or Pink. I would actually like to see Stephenson in a side improving.

I just really don’t get the clubs direction this off season. Parker alone would’ve been plenty enough experience to help organically grow the young talent on the list. Darling getting 2 years with triggers for a 3rd screams list clogger and that’s after torching 2 other list spots on limited role players (Stephens & Fisher) in the last off season.

The perfect draft for us with the talls available and we decide to completely nuke our draft hand, and take the anti-tall in Caleb Daniel all the while torching a top 30 pick.

We’ve been waiting for a draft like this (with lots of talls) for 4 years and it’s looking likely that we only take 2 in tye ND.

Everyone knows I’m a fan of the draft but only taking 2 picks in a draft that seemingly looked perfect us screams idiocy to me.

If we are bottom 4 next year this two year top up will be an epic failure imo.

I agree with you but surely there is something else cooking behind the scenes. Clarko and co have been there done that and would know that we need certain types of players and this is the draft to address those needs.... or the competition has passed them by and we are indeed ****ed!!!

What if we triple our wins from 3 to 9 and still finish bottom 4?

I’d take a nine win season and say thanks very much may I have another.

The 3 players we brought ik are all clear upgrades on what we were playing

Daniel > Fisher/Kerch

Darling > Pink

Parker > Shiels

End of story

We can't afford to keep topping up via draft only. Our player retention has been exemplary so far but the dam walls will burst at some stage and we absolutely cannot afford to lose an LDU, Wardlaw or Durrsma because we're not competitive. The draft is not the only avenue.

I think Parker and Darling replacing Greenwood and Shiels makes sense.
The 3rd year with triggers I guess gives Darling something to chase after I guess.
Maybe they view the 3rd year as a play AFL/VFL and forwards coach role if he hits the trigger?

The Daniel move and price I wasn't a huge fan of but they clearly see ball use as a big issue off the half back and releasing Colby will have an impact. Daniel is an AA and premiership player, which will be a better mentor for someone like Hardemann than say LMac or Corr, if we're being brutally honest. That move isn't too different from what the Demons did with Bernie Vince and Melksham's etc. I suspect we will try a few of these moves with 2nd/3rd/4th rounders over the next few years to build out the depth of the squad and hit the draft in some fashion, some moves will work and some won't.
The length of the contracts are mostl the issue, but I guess you have to get them out of clubs with some security.

I'd be disappointed if we only took two picks in this draft but I'll wait and see if there's any other list changes.
I could understand us taking on 3 picks given there is already 19 kids under 23 on the list since 2020.
That might be why they went after some better senior leaders urgently to help mentor those draftees and need to start winning games or the development of the young players will stall.
The list profile did clearly need some more experience but the Daniel move probably raises most eyebrows given the draft capital given up was a good spot to get one of those talls. I only hope we can get something in that range with our F2.
