The other issue with Reid, is that if he does sign a 1 year extension, the West Coast (senior) list will be absolutely gutted by the end of it.
Which will be just in time for compromised drafts.
Has this been raised before regarding Scott? That's a pretty incredible statement. Who wrote it?
The club not "being rushed" on a new contract offer (despite having mountains of cap room) can only mean a few things.
- Bailey's manager is asking for overs, or there is a big gap in expectation. It would seem based on that article the club hasn't even offered him a new deal yet for it to be rejected though.
- It can't be list spots etc. He's not a candidate for delisting and there's 10 others that would come before him.
It must mean one of the following then:
- The club want to lowball him to an extent and don't deem him worthy of a long deal/large wage.
Or
- The club must be shopping him. Maybe with the view with McKercher, Duursma and maybe another mid this year, there's an honest conversation had/to be had about his long term future?
- By extension, Bailey wants to explore his options?
- Or both?
Anyway, a fairly big development for a senior player of ours.
The Swans promoted data expert Chris Keane this year and the highly-regarded operator is expected to run the club’s list management team long-term.
Cadman to north?
Was also dropped last week
Ask anyone what has caused the shitshow of recent years and the letting go of experienced players is close to the top of every list.
You won't get much of an argument that moving on guys in their mid-30s is fine, nor delisting those who spend years on the list for a game here or there (or even less often).
But Bailey Scott and Cameron Zurhaar have stuck with us through the worst period the club's been through in half a century, I don't blame them for wanting to see if the grass really is greener on the other side.
In an environment where accepted wisdom is to pay overs for B-graders, it makes no sense at all to willingly let go of solid best 22 players who are in their mid-20s and with 100 games under their belt.
And if all we get in return are draft picks, the outcome is that we become a feeder club, in a perpetual state of rebuild, always three years away from finals.
Bailey Scott is precisely the sort of middle-of-the-road role player that lets the stars do their thing. Won't make many highlight reels is but immensely important to structure - set and forget for the next few years.
And if Cam Zurhaar says he wants to see improvement before re-signing and then he stays, the boost around the club will be massive. If he means he gets paid a hundred grand more than he "deserves", so be it. Worth every cent.
With bailey Scott the sweetnerStraight swap for Pink.
Poaching, not drafting: Collingwood set intentions for raid on Swan Logan McDonald

Collingwood is seriously interested in leveraging key forward Logan McDonald out of Sydney.
The Magpies are among a host of clubs keeping tabs on McDonald’s contract negotiations with the Swans and have prioritised securing a young key forward.
Securing McDonald would ease the burden on the club’s injury-plagued forward line, which has been exposed in multiple games this season.
With Dan McStay coming off an ACL injury, Mason Cox now 33 and Brody Mihocek 31 the West Australian-born goalkicker would be the perfect addition.
The Swans’ salary cap is tight but they remain confident of re-signing McDonald, who has booted 77 goals in 58 matches.
Magpies president Jeff Browne told the Herald Sun earlier this year the club would aggressively target rival stars.
“We don’t intend to go to the bottom of the ladder, so we can never really rely on the draft,” Browne said.
“We have got to trade, like we did last year with those four players (Mitchell, McStay, Hill and Frampton) and then we pick up Oleg Markov, and this year we get Lachie Schultz.
“We have to trade to improve our side. For successful clubs who don’t want to drop down to the bottom, the draft doesn’t really work for them.”
The Magpies do not hold a first-round pick in this year’s draft owing to their trade for ex-Docker Lachie Schultz last year.
But the AFL is expected to allow clubs to trade draft picks two years in advance for the first time.
If that is brought in for this year’s trade period, which seems likely, then the Magpies would have their full suite of 2025 and 2026 draft picks available to satisfy a trade.
McDonald, 22, grew up a Collingwood supporter. While McDonald is from WA, he grew up in Dunsborough – which is 250km south of Perth.
The Swans’ list management team has done an excellent job re-signing their star players this season with Errol Gulden, Oliver Florent and Will Hayward all recommitting.
The Swans promoted data expert Chris Keane this year and the highly-regarded operator is expected to run the club’s list management team long-term.

Yep. Don't know much about this Saggers fellow. But 77 goals in 58 games as a permanent forward for Sydney over the last few years is rather sh!t.Hmm.
Had bloody Robbers Saggers managed to stay on an AFL list and play 58 games, he'd have kicked 81 goals in the same time frame. Cripes.
We need to keep an eye on this situation, as if I'm correct Robbie was delisted, so maybe the Swan could do the same with McDonalds.
We pick him up in the PSD.
You know I'm correct.
Let em burn.Going to end in tears for someone like Collingwood.
Imagine having no picks for the next 2 seasons and you have a bomb of a year.
Lol yes it sure is, Robbie played 2 games for the Swan and 3 for us, delisted twice. He did kick 7 goals during his 5 game career.Yep. Don't know much about this Saggers fellow. But 77 goals in 58 games as a permanent forward for Sydney over the last few years is rather sh!t.

Good by the club to say no to a 3 year deal.. how many lists spots do Fold Coast have? Seems as though they have an abundanceI imagine the 3 year deal got it over the line.
That’s a long time for someone who hasn’t played any football above school football in 7 years.
Yes, it’s 4 and 5 deals for us and they are specifically reserved for discards from other clubs.I imagine the 3 year deal got it over the line.
