James Borlaise (22 years of age) - 9 spoils per game (elite), 18% loss % (elite), 1 intercept mark per game (below average), 0.5 contested marks per game (below average)

It's a small sample size, of only 4 games last year and the 2 this year, but as a cheaper option and 22 years of age. He is only 192cm, but has a big athletic profile. He was also de-listed and re-listed last year, is on a 1 year deal, so can sign as a unrestricted free agent at the end of the year automatically. He projects as a really promising lock down defender imo.
Interesting he has been dropped this week:
Out: J.Borlase (omitted)

well done HBFlanker

with KPs coming out of their ears, it did seem an odd selection for the dogs to take another inside the top 20, even if Busslinger is a defender

I havent had any further mail on this at all, but if this was to eventuate, the Bulldogs would surely ask for Phillips. Perfect replacement for Liberatore and Treloar who are aging.

They have Macrae in the Magoos mate. Will ain't going anywhere with midfield depth like that, nor should he. He's at the point in his career where he needs games at the coalface.

Macrae wont be there at seasons end if Bevo still is.

Will has a significantly higher chance of playing games at the Bulldogs in upcoming years than he does at North in my opinion. His competition are all 30 plus years old (bar Sanders), where as at North he is behind LDU, George, Powell, Mckercher, Sheezel who are all sub 25 years old.

Smith likely also gone from dogs at seasons end.

Good conversation ✅

I wouldn’t necessarily want to lose Phillips, but if it was the basis of a trade, I would want something coming back given Busslinger hasn’t debuted in a season and a bit

Fair shout.

Yeah I think his management would be asking some genuine questions on how many of those guys they think will be around, and how long for.

If the answer gives any indication that he might not be a starting mid in 2025 then I reckon he'd go elsewhere.

St Kilda or Richmond is my guess but who knows.

100% agree on those two clubs as possibilities too. Especially Richmond.

If it was a straight swap for buslinger would be all for it. With this year's draft having mids in the top end could then take a replacement mid for Phillips early if it suits

Phillips is not behind Sheez or Kerch for inside mid. The two have hardly had a centre bounce between them.

He is behind LDU, Powell and (until his form runs out) Laz.

It’s a matter of when not if Sheez and Ketch transition to the midfield. Once they do Phillips will be behind a few more…

Pipe dreams, but what would the Bullflogs accept in draft collateral as a trade for McRae if he looked for a fresh start?..

He’s an absolute gun and his skill set would be like getting Higgo all over again.

can’t believe I’m contemplating November trades in April again.. FML

Sherm, in "April", c'mon man lift!

And Wardlaw.
The defensive inside mix will improve drastically if we play these two TOGETHER.

- LDU Powell Wardlaw

- Powell Wardlaw Phillips

- LDU Powell Phillips

- LDU Wardlaw Phillips

Which combo has the best combo of both offensive ball winning and defensive edge?
