Cerra was a classic example of that as he couldn’t get to his first preference, he had to choose someone else as his preference didn’t have the draft capital. The difference in contract value is going to be significant. I am putting them in front for that reason alone. Playing with your mates is not worth a million bucks on its own. We really need them to be clearly still early in their rebuild even in the eyes of those of the meanest understanding.

That's fair enough, but also once you hit a certain amount, money doesn't matter as much. 1million playing in an environment you love and winning, trumps 1.2m and not having those things (in my opinion at least). Depends how mercenary he is I guess. I agree we've got to be in touching distance though.

He doesn't end up any worse off financially for this either. Working on 1.2m a year (which I believe is an inflated figure based on a bunch of triggers he "could" hit) over 4 years he takes home about 665k a year for 4 years = 2.66m. If that same 4.8m is spread over 5 years that equals 960k a year, or 540k a year for 5 years = 2.7m. Of course this is assuming the salary is evenly distributed over the 5 years.

Yes, he would be worse off financially with your scenario. Once he banked that 4.8 originally due in 4 years, he would then be due for a new contract and further payday in the 5th year. If you just spread the 4.8 over 5 years, he will be missing out on that 5th year and will be worse off. Maybe he is OK with that.

If you go by what is being reported we are 3.8 million under what we had on our books last year….definitely making space for another Tom lynch type deal in the next couple of years
Anyway you guys get an absolute gun in shai … how many guys playing hff have 80 shots on goal in a season and then you can chuck him into your midfield mix

which given how much cash they'll have freed up with front loading who else they have left, if they get some greenshoots from their crop this year over 25 and 26, I wonder if they become a serious contender for Harley at the end of his deal
