Game Day 2024 Trade Period - Lian Yu - that liminal space between trade and draft.

Unlike others, I am not convinced should be played as a forward pocket.

As long as we can priortise this need through the draft, I can tolerate the trade.

Berry, Hannaford, ......
I would like us to draft two players who can play as a forward pocket.

I am not fussed.

If Richmond bent us over slightly i guess its not the same as when David Mundy is kicking clutch goals against them at the MCG.

I have no problem with this trade for a player with a current extensive contract.

I am going to get extremely agitated however, when this will be inevitably referred to as us parting with three first rounders without mentioning what came back.

It's already been referred to that way. Great for clicks.

It depends on the draft order, and who gets picked where. Who knows how the draft order will end up, and who we are chasing.

I think the 3 pick down grade costs us any chance of Berry (you need to remember that Lombard, Kako and Ashcroft are all father son or NGA, so our pick will drop a bit )

Who says the club is drafting Berry they could have a completely opposite view.

" Bolton is essentially the biggest Kozzy recruitment piece for 2025."

this is what's making it grow on me.

have always been pro-Bolton, just didn't want to pay too much. if it helps with the mid- longer- term stuff, then it becomes much easier to live with.

roll on preseason...
Don't forget he has a son too with another kid on the way ;) We will pump 100 games into him

Fair deal.

And the dude plugs into a massive hole in the 22.

No brainer.

Who says that?

We actually paid Shultz & 2 x 2nd rounders in the end for an A grader in our biggest positional need.
I like it. Especially if the net salary we pay to Bolton would be similar to what we would have been paying Schultz in a new contract, might even be paying less to Bolton who knows.

Will be interesting to see the players that go in the three picks before ours but means to an end. If all of our players are gone we could even trade that pick out for an F1 to a desperate team.

I really wanted Allen so hoping he is not one of those players and goes before we even would have had a chance to get him.

Realistically it was never going to be a trade that we were going to win.

We are going after a high end talented player on a long term contract. It should not be a surprise to anyone that this trade has happened like this. Compared to West Coast and Gold Coast I think we have done well.

It's overs but you pay overs for a contracted gun, and the goal is to win a flag. We have an absolute weapon, top rated forward in the league in both 2022 and 2023 when the team was half decent. Our single biggest list need. Along with still holding picks 14 and 30 in a deep draft. F3 for Whan points. Not to mention Bolton is essentially the biggest Kozzy recruitment piece for 2025. If Chad chooses WC we are okay
If Warner goes to WC I’m totally fine with it
Know why ?

Because we would have pushed his price up that high that it will make the Tim Kelly deal look like a bargain and it will set them back another decade in their rebuild ( plus we get Kozzy , it will be raining goals !)

We offered 10 and 18 and it ended up splitting the middle. We also got the most talented small we have had at the club since prime Sonny. Add him to this list and we are going places.
I actually agree but this constant talk of holding, walk away ,only to fold everytime does nothing for how we Will continually get held to ransom at the trade table in the future

I’ll reiterate the original deal was more than fair to begin with

Just remember it's only clickbait to get Richmond nuffies to click on the article!

I'm surprised anyone is still surprised or angry 11 was involved.

It was obvious on day 1 we'd fold and include 11. I thought it might be 10 and 11 with 24 back, valuing him at 5. In the end according to someone above this values him at 4. So instead of 18 and 24 we now have 14 and a F3.

It's acceptable, as Fat Nyfe said above the aim is to win flags not trades. We've got an absolute A grader

That's a totally fair opinion and a lot less microwave memberships than some people.
