Don’t think so.

Not that keen on Soldo tbh. As long as he’s happy to play at Sandy most weeks.

We are not recruiting Soldo to play at Sandringham, RTB wants to use Marshall forward a lot more. Soldo is also reasonable forward, so Im guessing they will split the rucking role depending on the opponents. Having a changing ruckman forward will also take some heat off King, who really should be moved to CHF next season.

If our midfield can get on top of or break even of oppositions we wont be having to play our forward flankers so high and be able to maintain even numbers in our forward line. Which again having a changing ruckman forward means they cant sag off and double team King constantly.

Using Marshall forward is another reason the club are giving Membrey and Hayes the opportunity to find deals else where.

Also- it's not like our forward line has any discernable chemistry to disrupt.

We should definately be open to making major structural changes given it's not like they currently all avoid leading into eachothers space etc.

Our fwd structure should be looked at as a totally blank canvas.

Play a ruckman fulltime out of the goalsquare? Sure, let's see if that works.

King pushing up to the wing and stopping at CHF? Why not.

Etc etc

We need a backup ruckman. If Ro gets injured in a game, we are stuffed. He also showed he was very effective as a forward in the back end of the season. King needs another big body up in the forward line to help him out. Soldo and Ro rotating through there will structurally make us much better.

Port adelaide also have an absolute depth of big key forwards. We dont, we have Max King.....thats it really. Camminiti is good, but i reckon he will be a defender next year.

Soldo as a tap ruckman (which sooooooo many people on here scream that we need) would go just about 50/50 with Roma in in the ruck.

I wonder if Houston asking for a trade and our interest in Soldo are now connected? The club released a presser suggesting they werent interested in Houston I wonder if that has changed if Port have offered a package deal. If it involved both players and perhaps a little more then it may be worth entertaining. I was initially against trading for Houston but a package deal with Soldo would make it more reasonable.

Only issue with Soldo is that although he seems to be a very very good tap ruckman in terms of hitouts to advantage, does he win enough hitouts? (54 was against Jackson; 19 vs Pies was with 50% cbas alongside Sweet)

Probably not a big issue but will be interesting to see how much improvement there is in the mids purely from an improved rate of hitout to advantage rather than quantity of hitouts

Can't wait to see how this move benefits Row and King going forward, think there is serious upside in that forward partnership topped off with Sharman. Hopefully we can maintain our forward pressure

Paddy Ryder says hi

Few loved Paddy running around in the RWB as much as I did. But in Rowan's development as a ruckman/follower, it's like those three years didn't happen. 2024 would have probably been 2021 if not for Paddy. Rowan was elite in 2019, played a bits and pieces role for the next three years, then was elite again on his own since 2023.

We definitely need a replacement on the list for Tom Campbell, but in that role and at a price reflecting that role. We have other issues to fix before fixing the bloke about to win the B&F.
