Port need draft picks to get their trades done so will demand overs for contracted players like Houston and Soldo.

Let some other team be the suckers for once. Fair deal or walk away.

Port's list is bad, proof that their List Boss is an over rated dud.

Said it before but really hope we keep the F1. We already have 7 and probably 8. Let's not be greedy. It's an even draft, not a strong one. This year's Langford Lalor Smillie Reid Trainor quickly become Ludowkye Greeves Rodriguez Hibbins-Hargreaves etc etc. Look at phantoms this time last year, things can change quite a bit. Plus if Callaghan nominates us we need something to get a deal done. Better off trying to turn 8 into multiple earlyish picks

If there's anyone who thinks Sharman isn't best 22, can I have some of what they're on? btw he was best 22 before this season, even more cemented in now.

He played six VFL games this season and the coach was playing him back and forward trying to find a role for him.

He definitely wasn't best 22 during a quarter of this H+A season so not sure what you're on tbh?

Nah I’m not overpaying for a backup because port said pretty please. Also this game of calling next years draft a year out is demonstrably crazy, throwing away picks is a mugs game. The picks we waste this year might just be the extras we’ll need to get a Callahan across the line.

nahh... Soldo is a back up ruck.. not in their best 22.. the going price for such players is not a 2nd rounder it is a 3rd rounder. That is just how it is. I would assume that we wont use F2.

Port did some awful trading last year, overpaying Soldo and even more so for Ratugolea who is a spud

Still reckon there will be some big trades sprung - Petracca has let it known he wants out and his management would be looking at anyway to get him out of Melbourne , Oliver is the other any of these guys could be on the move.
So fully expect teams looking to off load players to secure the draft picks to bring in the players they want.
If I were St Kilda I would not commit to anything until late in the trade period to see who gets shaken lose.

Petracca’s management are not doing anything. It’s an impossible trade as Melbourne won’t budge. Managers hate trade period, they don’t get paid any extra to do it so why would his management push to get him to a new club if they are still gonna make the same % commission either way

Really love this idea and hope we’re putting it in motion.

Our F1 is probably ‘perceived’ as 4-10. I’d be happy trading it to GWS for their P15 this year. Backing us to bounce with a tap ruckman and someone who can exit stoppage cleanly, will make a massive difference stopping bleeding and ability to set up the ground not to mention quick decent entries.

GC probably dealing with Carlton who want Houston so think we’re more of a shot at GWS pick.

GWS will have a Vic country lad lined up and probably still get him at 20 (B2-Perryman) so would think they would be agreeable given they could think they’re getting a top 5 pick next year.

yep,hate to be left holding our cxxks next year,when the draft pool turns from drab to exciting and we would have had pick 4-10,but now have pick 32 after all the lions suns swans giants nga kids and whatever father/sons lurk

People unwilling to see us cough up a future 2nd for the soldering iron see him coming to be nothing more than a direct campbell replacement (ie only getting a game if roma gets injured)

Future 2nd for soldo (worst case), I think is fine if you think there is scope for him in our team to be more than just the new campbell.

His contract doesnt suddenly make him worth something in the 30s. He's an absolute hack and without that contact, any token pick would be too much.

Pick 43 seems like it should get Macyabby done. Port talking the talk now about Soldout will change their tune with the realisation they'll be paying him quite a bit to play in the SANFL.

Being contracted isn't a good thing for Port - it's a bad thing!!

If you move Marshall forward for most of the game he goes from getting 25 to 30 possessions to around 12 to 15 and he is not a great set shot. I really don’t get the thinking to change our set up and Marshall’s role to fit someone like Soldo.

Soldo is really an after thought. Yes we need a back up ruck but not one in the 1s to add to Marshall as support that slows our play down. I still think we can get one of the forward options to pinch hit. Soldo isn’t a forward so what happens when Marshall plays in the midfield.

We lose most of our center clearances, even a bomb forward is a better result than a kick into the opponents forward line.
