Really love this idea and hope we’re putting it in motion.

Our F1 is probably ‘perceived’ as 4-10. I’d be happy trading it to GWS for their P15 this year. Backing us to bounce with a tap ruckman and someone who can exit stoppage cleanly, will make a massive difference stopping bleeding and ability to set up the ground not to mention quick decent entries.

GC probably dealing with Carlton who want Houston so think we’re more of a shot at GWS pick.

GWS will have a Vic country lad lined up and probably still get him at 20 (B2-Perryman) so would think they would be agreeable given they could think they’re getting a top 5 pick next year.

The reported deal for Soldo was a F2 for soldo + F3 our way

So effectively sliding our pick back.

It isn’t a terrible deal (Would prefer a third on it own)

And then use the F3 (54) on Macrae.

Heath gets to play a whole year as Sandy’s number 1 ruck and Keeler goes back to key forward, which he’s more suited to. I don’t see a problem with it.

Petracca’s management are not doing anything. It’s an impossible trade as Melbourne won’t budge. Managers hate trade period, they don’t get paid any extra to do it so why would his management push to get him to a new club if they are still gonna make the same % commission either way

IMO if the guy doesn't want to be there he would be pushing to move no matter what it takes.
I don't know who would want him but if he burnt his bridges I can't see why they would want him.

like both of them but agree,very happy to look at will brodie or have a chat to jarryd lyons,macrae would be short time so would lyons,he was still racking them up in the vfl,aside from those 2 there are plenty of others(binns hobbs)then if still available double down on peatling or kennedy,then rather than soldo have a look at those freo guys sitting under darcy jackson and reidy or reeves

but of course if we have verbally committed to macrae and or soldo do all we can to get them first,but dont take any crap from the 2 clubs

People have to realize Soldo is a very average ruck - 60 games in 10yrs shows he is.
I would be surprised if we pick him up for anything more than a 3rd round pick.

Future 2nd for soldo (worst case), I think is fine if you think there is scope for him in our team to be more than just the new campbell.

nahh... Soldo is a back up ruck.. not in their best 22.. the going price for such players is not a 2nd rounder it is a 3rd rounder. That is just how it is. I would assume that we wont use F2.

Port did some awful trading last year, overpaying Soldo and even more so for Ratugolea who is a spud

Soldo is really an after thought. Yes we need a back up ruck but not one in the 1s to add to Marshall as support that slows our play down. I still think we can get one of the forward options to pinch hit. Soldo isn’t a forward so what happens when Marshall plays in the midfield.
If you move Marshall forward for most of the game he goes from getting 25 to 30 possessions to around 12 to 15 and he is not a great set shot. I really don’t get the thinking to change our set up and Marshall’s role to fit someone like Soldo.

Watching Daniher pinch hit in the ruck makes me want to to do the same with King. Gets him into the game, no long periods away from the ball, and Marshall is a genuinely decent forward.

Not quite the same. Xerri was a very young ruck who was identified as having good upside. History now would say that we underestimated his upside.

With Soldo, I doubt he will get better than he currently is. Value to us is whether we can use him to his fullest, whilst getting more value out of Marshall being freed up by less ruck attendances. If we do not actually achieve the latter, then achieving the former would not be enough.

F2 could well still be a low twenties pick.

And yet in 8 years of seniors football he has only kicked more than 9 goals ina season twice. This year with 15 and 2020 with 13.


He is a very good mark, but he has not developed the leading patterns that you want a key forward to have. So he would need a lot of development if you were going to play him mainly as a key forward.

Marshall is at his best as a follower. And his marking is at its best when he is moving around the ground.

If we do gain Soldo, it will be fascinating to see how Lyon will use Marshall.
