Id say Cotterell has learnt a heap off acres. They are very similar players. Cotters being younger has a mentor to learn off. If you look at what the comp classifies as the league best on Josh daicos (**** me a low standard) then cotters could easily makes AA if he keeps up his progression.

Cottrell was a scared ineffective, running rabbitt 2 years ago- now he has developed some ability to impact contests and provide reliable link running and sometimes kicking in general play. I would describe him as a strong running each way link player with at best average defensive impact, field kicking, and above average set shot kicking ability. Given teh fact that I wrote him off 2 years ago- the bloke is a credit to himself and Voss and proof that even JaB gets it wrong once in a while. I look forward to further progress as he is already an AFL capable player now.
I thought you were wrong once but I was mistaken.........

Errol Gulden is the best wingman in the league.

100%. Though I expect him to go inside more this year. He was about 50/50 last year.

The reason the competition for best winger isn't that stiff is because it's just not where clubs play their best players anymore. The dashing runners with great disposal usually go to a HBF or get played as inside /outside mids. Wing more a structural role that requires alot of discipline and unrewarded running.

On Cotts…

From what I’ve read, he didn’t really spend his whole teens focussed on footy? And barely played TAC cup until his draft year? And then last year was probably the first time he was consistently playing 1s.

Point being that he’s probably still got a some development in him, perhaps moreso than other players who have been in the AFL system 5 years.

Acres 2023 season would have to have put him in the top few wingmen.

No reason he can't repeat that this year and then some when he gets over that shoulder.

Not to mention recruit of the year.

I don't usually remark on player physique, because I think it's connection to performance is overstated, but the boys are looking trim and well-defined.

Might be the club photographer's skills

Not many players I fawn over anymore, but Errol is one of them. Absolute star.

Religion: Baggers

Some updates:

Everything is very much about match sims. Never stops
Seem to more playing probables v possibles
No real surprises in Probables and I have seen names like Fogarty DC Cottrell Cincotta Kemp play in both
Players miss at different times but seems to be more about management than injury
Never seen players hit so hard. It's ruthless and Voss keeps pushing them
Style is definitely contest then spread. Players expected to cover more ground and get numbers to contest
Skills are very good. We hit targets better than I have ever seen at club
EVERYONE looks good. No exaggeration. Impossible to pick on any player about lack of effort or fitness

Thanks Soap. Interesting we are going probables vs possibles.

From the training videos I watched last year plus the session I attended we seemed to go with even teams more often then not except for the forward line. In contrast, I attended multiple Brisbane Lions match sims and they always went a clear probables vs possibles.

There are pros and cons to each. Even teams gets you a better contest. Probables vs Possibles helps you build cohension. Might suggest cohesion is more of a focus. Might also be a relfection of our improved depth as I imagine our possibles team can put up a decent contest now anyway.

All those names you mentioned would be borderline so makes sense they are moving bewteen the teams. Do you know if Cowan and E.Hollands are playing in the probables?
