I wouldn’t delist McNeil. He has had a solid vfl season has good speed courageous and still only 23.
Cheap back up. We have some top end talent that take a lot salary cap and mcneil is a good back up

Not so much about being the cheap back up which is fine, but more so with needed list spots at the end of the year. Will lose one or two to trades, but would like to bring in some by trade and the 2-3 draft picks to turn the list over. McNeil's spot will be under heavy scrutiny for that reason. Keath out of contract too but probably more valuable on a one year deal as KPD depth.

5.2.32 vs 3.7.25

Quite frankly Harmes should be embarassed by how he has been playing, worst on ground by far and that's including Jones and Clarke not offering much.
Harmes was good in the seniors before getting injured. How much would you put his performance down to rust or being a little underdone if at all.

He's an iron man. It was raining. I'd put it down to rust.

Get out the steel wool at training and he'll be right to go.

Anyone watching Lachlan Fogarty today. He is 25 at his second club was not looking likely halfway through 2023. Kicked 3 today & plays an important role.
Patience is imperative for young small fwds. It’s a tough spot and as long as they continue to show glimpses along with being a hardworker on and off field I’d keep them around

Coaches votes

North Melbourne 10.3 (63) def by Footscray Bulldogs 14.13 (97)

9 Caleb Daniel (FOO)
6 Colby McKercher (NM)
5 Lachlan McNeil (FOO)
3 Hugh Greenwood (NM)
3 Buku Khamis (FOO)
2 James Harmes (FOO)
1 Riley Garcia (FOO)
1 Jarrod Gilbee (FOO)

I would bet that Edge gave McNeil 5 votes. It was the type of game that a coach would love. I also think Gilbee would have gotten one because his drive off of HB was important on a fairly low scoring day for most of the game.

Edge would have voted

5. McNeil
4. Daniel
3. Khamis
2. McKercher
1. Gilbee

North coach would have gone

5. Daniel
4. McKercher
3. Greenwood
2. Harmes
1. Garcia

Greenwood tagged our consistently best midfielder out of the game while getting a stack of the ball himself.

Footscray has welcomed four players to the fold for its Saturday afternoon clash with Werribee at Avalon Airport Oval.

Oskar Baker, Dom Bedendo, Ethan Hunt and Bailey Young have all been included, replacing AFL-listed quartet Buku Khamis, Lachie McNeil, Nick Coffield and Kelsey Rypstra.

Diesel Moloney will play his second VFL match after debuting last week, while the three AFL emergencies in Baker, Caleb Daniel and Charlie Clarke have also been listed for now.
Footscray will look to register back-to-back wins when it meets Werribee at 2.05pm at Avalon Airport Oval tomorrow.

The match will be live-streamed via afl.com.au/vfl, with score updates available via @FootscrayVFL on Twitter.

Since both games are at functionally the same time, I'll be primarily covering the VFL.
Really poor fixturing. Appreciate the reports from the VFL but the average supporter should never have to choose

Hi VFL watchers, looking at the photo C. Owen’s ( no.62 ) looks a good size and looks taller than L. Smith. What’s his background, any info on him as a player etc. thanks as always.

Ex-Sydney rookie, delisted after one year on the Sydney list. He's taller and heavier than Smith but doesn't cover the ground as well although I have only watched the one game that he has played.

From his draft profile

STRENGTHS:

  • Aerial ability
  • Mobility
  • Size
  • Upside

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Ground level work
  • Scoreboard impact

Tasmanian ruck-forward Cameron Owen is far from the finished product, but is one who earned a State Draft Combine invite following a consistent top-age year. Owen is not an explosive tall like others, but he is mobile enough that he can get around the ground and move a little better than some opposing rucks. He finds his fair share of the ball, and while his consistency is still building, has shown he can present as a leading forward as well as a ruck.

At 203cm, the Tasmanian is a good height, and at 94kg, is more built than many of his peers, and when presenting out in front inside 50 or around the ground, he is consistent enough with his hands to clunk them. Again, he is not a superb contested mark, but he can cleanly take grabs when creating separation on his opponent, and he will always make a contest. His upside is evident with what he does well.

Owen still has a number of areas to work on, as his consistency is still not there yet. From an on-field traits perspective, his ground level work is another area, while Owen missed chances to really influence up forward, though he presents well. A long-term prospect.

Garcia kicks out first goal, almost made a meal out of it as we were too cute and didn't hit targets coming out of 50 but Baker with some nice run to Poulter to Moloney.
