Top WA draft prospect Bo Allan stepped back from playing senior WAFL into the Colts team this week and was given a chance to show what he can do. His power was simply too much to handle, and his direct attacking approach regularly set up his teammates for scoring opportunities.
Similar size and frame, but he has a lot more power and attacking intent than Clay. Better overhead. Not as natural at stoppage though at this stage.Yeah, I liked the look of Allen when he was getting games for the Peel Seniors. Looked like a classier / more composed Clay Hall from the same time last year. Doubt we pick him up as not really what our list needs but I think he'll be a nice pick for someone
Yeah I'd agree with that, I didnt see much of Clay at Colts but he had pretty good intent at Seniors. Allan seems miles better overhead and there looks like a lot more growth potential with Allan to me (as well as flexibility where Hall is going to have to make it as an inside mid and not really much else).Similar size and frame, but he has a lot more power and attacking intent than Clay. Looks great overhead, wonder how he’d go a wing/HHF.Similar size and frame, but he has a lot more power and attacking intent than Clay. Better overhead. Not as natural at stoppage though at this stage.
Looked like he was playing hb, hf and inside midLooks great overhead, wonder how he’d go a wing/HHF.
Agree him and Allen would be great gets. I’m all for taking the 3 picks to the draft less freo can get a superstarMalaki Champion is a must.
Skilled finisher, we need some magic.

I actually think there are some big question marks about his skills - he doesn't have great distance and is pretty inconsistent with both goal kicking and field kicking; a lot of his shots fade to one side or the other. The kicking action looks okay though. It is hard to tell but I am also concerned about his speed; whilst he is definitely agile and has a good footy brain I don't think he has real zip - at senior AFL level he will get found out a bit.
Below is footage (thanks noobermensch) of Joe Berry, a small forward who has real pace. Again I have question marks over the kicking but recruiters are going to like his second efforts and he is a player who can fly by people when the ball comes to ground.
Is it the depth of Berry’s kicking that is the issue? Because the rest looked very tidy, and his is very quick
Package all our firsts to get Josh Smiley or whatever his name is, kid is a taller version of petracca
This guy is exactly who we need
Goodness me it sounds like he was born to be a docker.Kako is for mine clearly the best small forward in the draft this year - whilst there are question marks as to whether he is worth a first round or whether he is firmly a second round chance, I think one of our late 1st round picks (Port Adelaide Pick) is likely to be an appropriate pick for him. My only concerns that he does miss a lot of shots for a supposed sharpshooter, and maybe he front-runs a bit too much (but his tackles stay tackled). I think Berry is faster than him, but Kako has better forward craft.
Since being run through the midfield Bo Allan being talked up as mid first round now , potentially higher depending on championships. The next Curtin, Cody Curtin (197cm Defender), will be a player to watch in 2025 if going by the states 18 versus 21 today - defended well against Scaife and Tregenza. Maybe is more athletic than his brother?
Gerryn, Allan and Champion also had good games.
Hopefully can match bid before 40 next year (Wishful thinking)Todays herald sun profiling the top 25 kids in next years AFL draft at this stage (2025). Couple of interesting additions below. Willem Durssma the early fav for overall first pick.
BASIL HART
Club: Western Australia/Peel Thunder/Marist FC
Height: 183cm
DOB: 18/01/07
An indigenous medium forward, Hart used his pace, clean hands and anticipation to be a dangerous forward throughout the under-16 national championships last year. He showed innate goal sense by kicking multiple goals in each game and finished with seven majors overall to win Western Australia’s MVP award and All-Australian honours. Hart has played four matches at under-18 level this year, averaging 9.3 disposals and kicking four goals. He is part of Fremantle’s NGA program, potentially giving the Dockers access to him in the 2025 draft
FRED RODRIGUEZ
Club: Western Australia/ South Fremantle/Fremantle City Dockers
Height: 185 cm
DOB: 10/07/07
A highly-regarded midfielder who missed last year’s under-16 championships due to injury, Rodriguez has quickly reminded scouts of his potential with his early form in the under-18s this season. He averaged 21.5 disposals (13 contested) and 6.3 clearances from his first four matches and has been included in the initial state under-18 squad for 2024 as a bottom-age player
If he is good enough we need to make sure we have the pink to get him the old fashioned way, if necessary.Hopefully can match bid before 40 next year (Wishful thinking)
