Well at least we aren't playing a home game at Marvel against a Marvel tenant.
It looks like we are - St Kilda game is at Marvel according to the AFL app.
Looks like the Collingwood graphic listed MCG in error.

Contractually we always have to play 2 home games at Marvel and one of these must be against a Victorian team.

Geez, tough draw - very few easy games in our first ten matches. Again.

And of course no double-ups against any of Tigers, Weagles or Kangas. Again.

We’re gonna have to win the Flag the hard way. Again.

Exactly my thoughts. Who cares if they get a couple of easy beats if the lose to the top sides when it really matters.

And for all we know, North may be a big improver next year.
It ****ing matters when we get ripsnorted with our draw and go from strong top 4 chance (injuries aside) to potentially the 5-12 range where 4 points or a healthy percentage is going to make all the difference.

If you prefer to take the view that we won't be competitive against those sides with an earlier preparation & an improved list, that's your prerogative, I guess.

"Another quirk in the fixture will see a Marvel Stadium double-header in round 11, coinciding with Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

Carlton will play Greater Western Sydney on the Saturday at 1.20pm AEST, before North Melbourne hosts Collingwood at the same venue at 7.35pm AEST later that evening.

The double-header is expected to feature a series of Sir Doug Nicholls Round activations throughout the Docklands precinct during the day.

"We are thrilled to be hosting back-to-back matches on Saturday in Sir Doug Nicholls Round next season," Marvel Stadium general manager Scott Fitzgerald said in a statement.

"We will look to activate throughout the Marvel Precinct and will work with all our stakeholders on delivering a great event for fans attending this special round."
Yeah who doesn’t love to hang about longer than required in dreary windswept docklands?

Having worked there you scurry in, get your shit done, then scurry out.

Absolute Joke. I'm going to whack a few things about the fixture. Also Melbourne got the easiest draw, they were smart by tanking that last lightening affected game against us.

Opening round is a sham designed to give the northern states every leg up possible to make them successful during a code war. AFL would cream if all 4 northern teams just shared the flag over the next however many years. I sound one eyed but the afl uses collingwood as a pawn to fill other teams home games, look at f**ing round 2, bulldogs home game @ the G for their 100 year anniversary. Always go to gold coast, feel like I cant remember last time we didn't play BL at the gabba either.

Lastly not releasing the whole thing in its entirety so they can meddle with it later as it suits them/cater to which teams they want to aid. Only major sport I know that does this, amateur hour by a so called professional league.
I remember we played Brisbane at the G in 2023.

‘‘Twas a warmer than usual day, a certain electricity in the air, a battle of sorts, an epic even… an old man finding his superboot, and a young man exploring up where the air is thin, redemption of good over evil, and a name etched in the memories of all who witnessed - Frampton….”

We will never get a draw that's equivalent to our finishing position the previous season. We could’ve finished 16th, and we still would have been dealt this draw.
We are the AFL's cash cow, so they just put us against the opposition that is going to draw big crowds, big viewership on TV and get the cash rolling in....
Yet Carlscum make finals 2 seasons in succession, and still get a p155 easy draw.....

I certainly expect we will be significantly better, and I still think we should be one of the teams to beat in 2025. The Carlton double ups from the bottom 6 are absolutely free hits and guaranteed percentage boosters.

It’s frustrating in that our fixture allows no slip ups while a hated rival get an armchair ride

Because the AFL keeps hoping they’ll become a big successful club

Then each year reality hits

That's assuming Blues stay the same or even improve with a list that hasn't improved on last year..in fact their list has probably dimished.

It's also assuming that North & Eagles won't approve on last year.

I personally see it as a great opportunity for us to test ourselves against tougher competition and iron out weaknesses. Winning covers up flaws, so let carlton get a false sense of security from beating minnows. They will get exposed come finals.

One thing is for certain from looking at this draw ,our boys will be sharp from day 1.

I’d love the wheels to fall off for Carlton, but it feel like a small to zero chance. After the fixture I think we may be in that same group as them at the end of the year. Hence my dismay at them getting the boost and us getting the smack two years running.

North have some quality and I’d expect they get better, but not by enough to put the wind up the likes of us or Carlton. The Eagles will continue to be pure rubbish.

You realise they beat us into the 8 this year on percentage and a soft draw.

I know me being pisssed about it won’t change a thing, but failing to see that what occurred in 2024 is being set up again in 2025 feels like blissful ignorance.

Yep agree we get to test ourselves with the double ups and to be honest if we slip badly on those double ups the we were never in contention, but geez it’d be nice to have some wriggle room. We’re going to have to perform from the getgo and stay switched on all year.

I like only travelling 2 times after round 9 and 9 games at the g after round 9. But other than that it’s a steaming pile for us

I reckon it’s a ripper draw!

Missing finals on %, well that was on us. We lost 3 in a row and then lost 4 in a row, but that is all in the past now.

This side performs better when the pressure is turned up, and not having wiggle room will quash out any complacency in the side.
