And I come back around to Kreuger and shaving 5-6 kgs off his frame, then training him as a defender.

Starts out in the VFL as an interceptor, Jones style. Originally came into the league being used as a general rebounding defender.

Which is why I would have kept Martin on for another year if he agreed. We've now got a new high performnace manager, and we've seen how much of an impact Martin has to our forward half when he's in - especially when we're pushing for a premiership tilt. Marchy and Cunners I was fine with, but Martin I was disappointed.

I'd have offered another year to him under Inness to see whether a fresh set of eyes may have seen some positive results - but I suspect he's had a gutful of the club, and we may have had a gutful of him if his rehab standards weren't up to scratch as some have mentioned.

He'll make an impact at the Cats IF they can get him to a certain level of fitness. For mine it may be one that could come back to bite us on the bum, but only time will tell.

He signed on with Geelong for 2 years. One year contract offer from Carlton might not have done it.

Talk is if Durdin can do full pre season they will rookie him

Carroll a long shot bit given a chance as he has had a real tough year with injury
Geez I hope not, we already know what Durdin offers. He’s a list clogger.

Would rather give Phillips or McMahon or DGB an opportunity in that spot.

Hate that term. Poor guys body just hasn’t stood up despite him doing everything possible

Same as Marchbank. Not their fault

We have moved on 10 players

Brought in Haynes and will add Pick 3 and two Campo boys as a start

“Trialling” Durdin as a possible depth player isn’t a big deal

Perspective
May not be a big deal, but we know what Durdin offers, he has played 2 games in 2.5 years for us and 24 games in 7 seasons in the afl system, not losing anything by investing in a player 22-25, seems a very logical decision.

Given they delisted him, not so much? 🤔
It might be semantics, but if they didn’t rate him, he wouldn’t be invited to train for a list spot.

If he had been healthy we’d have seen a fair bit more of him. Obviously he hasn’t so his career is at a crossroads but a fit Sam Durdin (if it exists) is still better than the options being raised.

All things being equal whoever ends up with the list spot should make very little difference to our year in 25 but I have no issue at all with the way the club has handled Durdins situation

Be interested to know the numbers on list movements this year, seems to be high across the board, prob averaging ~10 per club

Pretty sure we have a large team of recruiters who watch Vfl & WA and SA leagues & plus younger delisted players from the system, seriously if we cannot find a younger option from there we are not looking hard enough.

That’s the point. I am very confident Austin & Co are looking at ALL options.

The fact that they are still trialling Durdin as a possible option says to me the options are very limited

What if we have a young KPD we get at pick 38? Or we think Lemmey needs another year? And then if Durdin stays fit he plays as rookie for a year while they develop?

From the Hawks supporters I have spoken to DGB is not very good at all, so I'd rather stick with a player we know, but having said that I think Phillips would be worth a punt.

I like Phillips, wouldn’t mind seeing McMahon tried as a defender. Krueger is an interesting option

EP said we are going to train Jack as a defender which I really like

We have no interest in Tomlinson who was available

Also shows to me we don’t rate Young at all as he is always available and where do we see Lemmey?

Be interesting to see how we end up. I see Durdin (if he gets through and is picked) as a Weitering break glass option. No more, no less

I'm hoping we do pickup Phillips and I like the idea of JSOS as a defender, though I'd plonk him at Full Back and give Weiters the freedom to play intercept.

He's very good at it, but you can almost see he's in 2 minds when he comes up the ground because he cant trust anyone to cover him around the square. There's no rule that says he cant go back to FB 'if a Gorilla is required' and let one of the other play HB. We have got to start being more flexible anyway.

I wonder if Gov will swap with Kemp (if he goes FWD) during the year? 🤔

So many questions to be answered. I’ll start attending some pre season after draft

Will Kemp stay forward?
Can Moir Binns Lord turn promise end of this season into best 22?
Can Jack play FB?
Can we stay fit?
Will Pick 3 step up straight away?
Can Cerra & Walsh get fully fit?
Will TDK become best ruck in AFL?
Can McKay be a Joe Daniher 2nd ruck type?

And much more

I just hope Voss is flexible and we adjust our game plan

> I think he has all the attributes, excellent reader of ball & play, VG body on body, competitive beast and won't like getting goals kicked on him, would have Weiter's trust, and has a FB of the Century to get tips from...

I think he will TBH - might even be this year (depending on how Gawn goes)
Can McKay be a Joe Daniher 2nd ruck type?
Not confident on this one, I think H is a bit too skinny through the hips and easier to push off the ball than Joe.

Think you are really underestimating Harry here with that statement

Like the sound of trying JSOS at FB for reason as indicated

Like to see both Kemp and Gov trialled as 3rd tall Fwd, Nowithstanding Moir given every chance in Med-Fwd role there.

Maybe - would love to be proven wrong, but he so often gets pushed of/forward in a marking contest.
If he's gonna do the 'Joe Role' He'll need to put on a bit more weight/muscle I suspect.
