Yep. Really like the way ours is building.
I've previously stated I'm quite satisfied with what Nick Austin's done since landing in 2020.
As was said when he joined us, the powers that be think he has what it takes to build a premiership list.
Imo his choices (with what he had to work with picks wise) have started to show something, albeit a small sample so far.
Just waiting to see the "fruit" ripen, so to speak.
Hopefully won't have to wait long. Next year would be nice

I still see his selections as conservative, as in, players with high floors, but adding the likes of Moir and Lemney does improve that balance

I never saw Lemmey as a high ceiling type despite him being rated highly a year out from the draft. His athletic profile is too limited for mine.

I would have taken Weddle ahead of Ollie, but maybe the plan was to target his brother as well.
Hewett too, bur concede that he might be a flight risk

FWIW I really wanted Weddle too but happy with OH as long as he continues to track the way he is. Bit more core strength and size would be nice, whilst still maintaining agility etcThat's where Innes comes in. Our whole teams core strength is not the same as the top sides. Wasn't surprised by his comment about that when he first assessed us on joining. I saw it throughout the season.

Weddle has a bit of "looks like Tarzan plays like Jane" about him at times although he got a bit better as the season progressed.
Ollie will surprise many. He's a very professional young man.
I don't go on where players are taken or projected to be taken, just purely how I see quality of player

Seems like you're advocating for a system that inevitably gives more plodders a chance.
He remains a player who seemingly cannot improve his endurance, and with it his consistency. If he can't dominate the VFL this year, he's done.
And if you are Drafting for your clubs future, that is exactly how it should be.

Hewett would have been a home run swing for sure. Shame his body seems to be a major concern
That is the central reason I have been critical of Austin until now & why I support him, this year.

Weddle could easily play on a wing I believe, in fact, pretty much anywhere

Weddle looks like the one that got away and well done to Hawthorn for being so aggressive chasing him.
To me Hollands still looks a really good pick. To this point Only Weddle and probably Jones look better than him in the next 20 plus picks.(ignoring FS)

Heās a bit of a unicorn in that his athleticism allows him to be versatile.
Certainly in the short term I reckon heād get a bit of the Sidebottom vs Cottrell treatment and be caught out too often on a wing.
Anyway both he and OHollands look like 200 gamers so itās hard to complain about the outstanding pick when we still got a beauty

I really like the ideas and they would be great, I wonder though if the AFL looks at the Europe and sees their football clubs playing about 70 matches per season and thinking thereās plenty of room to move before we hit spectator fatigue.
I see your point but the noise about a play off game isnāt going away and looks to be getting closer, that will give the AFL matches during the NRLs final round.

I dont know how the narrative has shifted now to needing 5 on the bench, you can see it happening, someone gets injured and clubs will scream they are disadvantaged.
What would you like to see?

Soccer games are 25% shorter, with about half the high intensity work, 70% of the distance covered, and first choice players make about 30-40 appearances a season.
The workload is about the same, arguably lighter.

18 players - no bench rotations and one sub for injury.
if coaches want to play a run around like headless chooks and play for jo the goose strategies let them wear their players out ion the first quarter or two and see the other team win by 15 goals.
if list managers want to pick kids who can run all day but cant kick a football or lay a tackle - good luck with that BS too.
let the true stars be stars again - instead of cannon fodder for triple teaming them with plodders
