Him and Carroll probably competing for one spot. (3rd tall (back or forward in mcmahons case))

Durdin and DGB for the other (KPD).
McMahon can also play as a forward, I'd be adding him to the list along with the best option as a KPD, hopefully a draftee while we still have Young and Haynes

I think there is a high chance that the type of tall we get in the National Draft heavily affects who we take as a SSP.

If it's a lockdown key, then Grainger-Barass's chances increase as a McGovern back-up.

If it's more an intercept type, then Durdin seems more likely

Who says he will even be a KPB?

I think he should stay forward, and that Kemp should be training up as a mid that rests forward, we can even use Jack to spell him in midfield.

Jack's form as a forward finally hit its peak just before injury took him out of the 2023 season.

Jack as a defender has been done before as a reactionary move by Voss, and his pace was shown up. They'll keep putting him as a deep defender and he will look silly, especially coming back from an ACL.

I'm all for having him train there as a backup to give our list flexibility and keep Kemp in attacking roles, but Jack is in my best 22 as a forward.
Agree with all of this
Everyone thinks he will be a great defender but (imo) is blinded by his father’s form.
It’s been tried and he is too slow. He is a competitor but it won’t work
Would love him to keep a fwd role and play second ruck to TDK
Sos is versatile af, does well when he goes in the ruck, is smart and handy when the ball hits the deck

Hasnt really been tried. The odd game in the reserves. Maybe patches in the seniors. Hes never properly trained there. Not for lack of ability. Hes just been more needed elsewhere.

Worth a crack. Could always revert if its a fail.

You’d think it will be DGB and McMahon who get the spots should they impress. Durdin is way too injury prone to be relied upon as backup and McMahon is more of a positional need than Carroll. DGB still has age on his side to make good of a career and fulfil potential.
