I didn't get that sense at all from the interview. Stressed how much he loves the club and playing with this group. Was pretty up beat throughout imo. Maybe I'm seeing what I want to see idk
TDK: "I’ve grown up playing with a bunch of these boys since I got drafted and we’ve stuck together and grown up in the Club together, and I’m really loving my footy with them."

I got the opposite impression. I feel like he knows we are close to a premiership and wants to be a big part of it.

I think he will knock back some crazy offers and will commit for less. Lets hope the club can get a deal done early next year to stop the distractions that will inevitably come
Not the impression I got at all.

Watch it again.

Words are wind. It's all in the body language for me.

But hey, I'm no expert. Just an uneducated opinion.

I reckon 80% of this board had him gone in 2023. Good to see you've gone early with that so far out. I have a strong suspicion that you will be proven wrong in 2025 again.

Just a general question. When was the last time that player left Carlton because the grass was greener on the other side.? Maybe Eddie Betts? I think that the club is better run and a far better work environment than it was then. Every player that we have wanted to keep in recent times we have kept.

Happy to bookmark my post. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I agree players generally don't choose to leave us, which speaks to how good the working environment is.

He also only signed for 2 years for this very reason, maximise the potential offers for FA (regardless of whether he stays or goes).
The money/years being bandied about is unlike anything this league has ever seen for a ruck. Sydney from what I remember were offering 8 years last year. And with the new CBA you'd think offers won't be less than 1.2m a year.

Hard to see him stay if we can't offer at least 1m per year.

Based on the interview today, if I had to put money on it I'd say TDK is gone.

Seemed to clam up a bit when asked about his contract. Eyes down, stuttering. He's at the very least considering the offers (I mean who wouldn't).

I just hope we have the cap space to match and demand a kings ransom.

TDK will be all signed up by the mid year bye at the very latest. No issue at all

PS Few people at club commenting it's well down path of discussion

Was never going to leave, deal will get done, probably before the start of the season, 4 weeks in at a maximum

Wouldn't say it's that high, probably people being nervous

I can only think as far back as Hamill, of who we wanted to keep, but for Jack giving him a clip

Most wanted to keep Eddie, but malthouse had a different agenda

I don't believe your commentary/interpretation is accurate at all.
Many more factors that purely the financial piece he will be very well rewarded in his next contract.

Eddie never wanted to leave. Close friends of my family were his sponsors at the time - he literally cried when he had to tell them he was leaving the club.

Not sure if true, but heard he only wanted an extra 50K year, even though the Crows had offered considerably more

I'm not a buyer of that argument tbh - sans specific references to player for player swap - teh VFl squad hasnt been exactly full of guns pushing for selection...Ive read lots of commenary during he year re Binns not getting a go and wishes that Wilson perrhaps deserves a call up ...have I msised anyone else in the plethora of alternatives that the memic vibe on here at times referenced as clear signs that Voss plays favourites? Really a lot of peole were suggesting Binns over Ollie for a long time- aso that is one young player over another- I dont see heavy bias against young players as thing at Carlton tbh.

All that said - I have no doubt that teh VFL team will have much more real developing depth and fitter players in there which shoudl provide a consistent benchmark and developmental environment for tsome of the yioung tlent that has bene added- I'm veryu pleased to see most of the prennial injured let go- and replaced hopefyully with better bodies.

Binns/Lord/Moir/Wilson/Lemmey shoudl be pushing for selection - who knows how quickly or bnot teh Camporeles will be...Im excited about OKeefe base don what I have seen of him - but again he has copped bahd hamstrings two year in a row now.

All that said I think the game plan particularrly exiting defensive fifty and trsansition between the arcs totally SUX. I see evidenve that Voss failed to embrace the reality that his seniour squad was done before finals and perhaps play more kids - he as much admitted that he was rolling the dice before teh finals game against Brisbane - I wasnt impressed at all.

However who knows what marketing pressures he was under to get an on paper team out on the ground for supporters to pray and hope over?

Big year for Vossy coming up I think - if he and hios coaching team dont improve transition and defensive stoppages there will be protest - and there are 17 players up for contract. Quite a pivotal year for the Club I think.
I'm probably not a big fan ofy own line of reasoning earlier either. Just got a healthy dose of frustration from last years injuries and what felt like a missed opportunity.

Good post 👍

What crap
No it's not. From mem

Interesting call. From memory you'd flamed out and weren't posting on the carlton board around that time. However you did post this on 1/5/23 " I'm o.k. if we let TDK go. Get a decent pick or 2 and save some money. We can cover the loss".

80% is an arbitrary figure but there was a prevailing mood that TDK was on his way out the door in 2023. Maybe it was just nervousness .

But feel free to continue playing the man though.

Take it with a grain of salt but Tom also told my 6yo son at a footy clinic a few weeks ago his not going anywhere else.
Tom wanted to know why he didn’t have number 12 on his jumper my son said if you stay Dad said he’ll get me one with 12 on it

There are going to be some incredible meltdowns down at Moorabbin as soon as TDK signs on the dotted line.

And then there will be a second meltdown when SOS is told by his son that he would rather be playing anywhere else other than St Kilda.

I just don’t feel as confident about keeping him as I have the others. If the money being thrown at him is true I can’t really blame him either. It’s life changing stuff. I don’t think he’s a guy who values that sorta thing but at some point u gotta consider it

Think we have to trust the back room boys (and girls) to concoct some Geelongesque side deals to ensure player retention.

I think there is alot to play out with TDK. If he starts out on fire he is going to get crazy offers that would make it very risky for us to get close enough for him to stay. If he starts quietly then the current rumoured offers would make it risky for us to offer near that amount. I imagine he leaves $200-300k per season to stay on the table but it’s the length of the deal which will make it tricky imo.

On thing I am very confident on is the better we start the season or if we can sign him before the season starts; the better deal will be for the club.

had they been prepared to pay another $50,000 [ match the Adelaide offer] he would have stayed... Because he loved Carlton and that would have been his preference
